[Catholic Caucus] The Stain of Theodore McCarrick Is Impossible to Expunge

His legacy lives on in his “nephews” who preside over dioceses hemorrhaging money, including — alarmingly — pension funds.

While McCarrick lives off his millions in retirement, lowly workers in dioceses which are financially reeling from the abuse scandal find themselves out of luck. In the old days, the Church would have called that a “sin that cries out to heaven for vengeance.” But in the church of Pope Francis, those most responsible for hiding McCarrick suffer nothing and often enjoy promotions. No doubt the reason for the delay in the Vatican’s report on the McCarrick scandal is that it implicates not only members of Francis’s inner circle but Pope Francis himself, who had been told of McCarrick’s predations and ignored them. Cardinal Sean O’Malley had risibly suggested last November the delay was due to slow translation work. Surely, it is due to difficulties in finessing the pope’s role in the mess and having to explain why its stain hasn’t been erased — a stain that is visible at the highest levels of the Church where his protégés continue to hold power.

Can we now add looting of the Church to the actions and inactions of this Pope?

The Catholic Church should take the suggestion to get completely rid of all queer priests starting immediately.

Christian in China will suffer for decades because of McCarrick and the policy he set up with their government. China just past a law saying Chinese can not be baptized until they turn 18.

McCarrick is among the genuinely evil in Bergoglio’s circle. Some are just faithless careerists, but some are evil.

He’s one. I live in the diocese where it was rumored they were going to send him to live in a residence for retired priests. I couldn’t believe it because I don’t think our bishop, a decent but not very strong man, would ever do that to his retired priests. But it’s possible that this plan was hatching out there somewhere and he didn’t even know about it.

In any case, they first sent out a message saying they’d never been contacted about this (they had been, and it was recorded!) and then they sent out a cold and hostile letter, in the tone of “why are you peons bothering us lofty olympians,” where they informed us that he wasn’t on diocesan property, they had no idea where he was, and anyway it wasn’t their job to keep track of him. I guess they want to watch their donations plunge even more.

China just past a law saying Chinese can not be baptized until they turn 18.

Hopefully their parents will do it, if it's too dangerous for a priest or pastor to.

“It is imperative that the congregation for bishops look beyond the walls of the North American College for candidates.”

Anyone know what this means?

It means francischurch is looking for more heretics from his “peripheries”.

The North American College has had a reputation of producing orthodox, faithful Catholic priests.

Can't have any more of that.
