Is the Star on the crossing tower a reference to the Star of Bethlehem? That would be a sweet compliment to the remains of the Magi above/behind the high altar.
The crossing tower has a spectacular gazebo like platform from which one can see the entire city of Cologne. Not open to the public, but viewable from the two main towers.
