On Thanksgiving Day our family gathered together as always. This year's dinner was at one of the brother's house.
There were probably around 80 who attended.
The brother who hosted the dinner is dying of pancreatic cancer. Short of a miracle he probably won't be with us through the end of the year.
I had gone in to his room to see him. While I was there he summoned everyone who could to come into the room. What happened next was a very moving scene.
I was standing by the bed holding his hand when he began speaking.
He said, "I want everyone who can hear my voice to know that I am a follower of Christ. I know that He has forgiven my sins. I have a peace and a calmness of what awaits me. Two other men were crucified along with Christ. One rejected Him; one received Him. It is my sincere hope that if anyone is not a follower of Christ they would become one before it's too late."
I stood there with tears in my eyes as I listened to this great testimony of faith from a man who is dying. He had praised God for a good life, the forgiveness of his sins and the future hope of an eternity in Heaven.
It is my prayer that anyone reading this who is not a follower of Christ would heed his plea and turn to faith in Christ.

John records these words of Christ:
14As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; 15so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life.
16For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.
18He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 3:14-18 NASB
Wonderful.
Thank you and bless be to your brother.
Thank you. My brother brought me to Christ. God bless your brother and your family.
God bless him! I hope he gave the Lord a good harvest that day. When someone comes in the door a lost soul and goes out restored to Christ, that’s a holiday right there.
20 years ago, at church, a woman said that my brother became a Christian. I said I was certain it was one of two other men with the same name in town. No, she said, I’m certain it’s your brother. I said I really think you have the wrong guy. She then said, He was surprised it took him so long. I said, That would be my brother. And it was. My mom became a Christian during the last 15 minutes she was lucid. She was always a good woman, but had not professed His faith.
Presuming he is Catholic, look into ensuring that on or about the day of his death, but before he dies, a priest grants him an Apostolic Pardon. If done correctly and under the proper circumstances, he will be relieved of any period of suffering and purification due to him in Purgatory after his death, and proceed immediately into the Beatific Vision he clearly desires and has been striving toward.
Holy Mother Church has graciously made provision for ordinary members of the faithful to receive this pardon out of the abundant treasure of graces bestowed upon her by our Lord Jesup Christ and she has determined that knowledge of it not be kept to a select few but that we may all be made aware and benefit to the extent possible. Nevertheless, knowledge of this most generous and merciful pardon has not spread widely, most likely due to the post-Conciliar Church seemingly deliberately slow-walking the teaching of Christian doctrine generally, and doctrine on Purgatory and the Four Last Things specifically, ostensibly to avoid troubling the fragile temperaments of borderline apostates.
_____
Apostolic Pardon: to relieve a member of the faithful of any sentence he or she may due to serve in purgatory. There appear to be two forms to this prayer. Either formula may be used, but the latter seems best:
(1) Through the holy mysteries of our redemption may almighty God release you from all punishments in this life and in the life to come. May he open to you the gates of paradise and welcome you to everlasting joy.
Or:
(2) By the authority which the Apostolic See has given me, I grant you a full pardon and the remission of all your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

What kind of auto-correct changes Jesus to Jesup? Incredible.
He is a Christian...a follower of Christ.
No "apostolic pardon" is needed as he will not be going to the non-biblical purgatory.
13For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, 14in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 1:13-14 NASB
God bless you.....a wonderful testimony
May God comfort your brother and gently hold him until the angels escort him into eternity
Presuming you are Catholic, I know you meant your post well and to be comforting.
Those of us who are not Catholic and are truly redeemed do not embrace a Purgatory, dear Freeper
We believe all our sins were imputed on our Savior at the Cross......taken away......we were Redeemed by His blood
Thank-you for your kindness
” He will be relieved of any period of suffering and purification due to him in Purgatory after his death, “
I guess we don’t need the Holy Blood of Christ then to purify us. Just a priest and a pardon....
Amen!...and prayers for your brother and family. Miracles do happen...I can testify to that personally after watching what God did for my husband. No other explanation other than it was God's hand in his recovery.
What a great way to witness to everyone and make peace with everyone at the same time.
Great to way to say your farewells and be prepared to go home.
Prayers for your brother, you and your entire family
in this terrible time of difficulty.
May our prayers for the miraculous healing of
your brother and all those suffering with terminal illness
be answered according to His will.

And that is what life is all about, Charlie Brown.
Lovely and so meaningful! May he be blessed and comforted in his passing, and you and your family as well.
Excellent post and testimony. God’s Word does not return void. I am sure the presence of Christ and the Holy Spirit will move among and within your family. May God bless and guide you and your family. I am praying for all of you right now.
I am. And I did. Thank you for your kindness.
Blessings to you!
