Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Music in The Bible)

Psalm 15

Psalm 15

A psalm of David.

1 Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?
    Who may live on your holy mountain?

2 The one whose walk is blameless,
    who does what is righteous,
    who speaks the truth from their heart;

3 whose tongue utters no slander,
    who does no wrong to a neighbor,
    and casts no slur on others;

4 who despises a vile person
    but honors those who fear the Lord;
who keeps an oath even when it hurts,
    and does not change their mind;

5 who lends money to the poor without interest;
    who does not accept a bribe against the innocent.

Whoever does these things
    will never be shaken.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father,
Who Art in Heaven,
How Blessed,
How Glorious,
How Wonderful,
Is Your Most Holy Name!
How Mighty and Perfect is Your Word,
And Your Promise,
Which You have allowed us a glimpse
into Your Perfect Will!
You, The Everlasting,
The Omnipotent,
The Immortal and Eternal,
Not Bound By Time or Space,
Because You Created it,
Your Ways are not our ways,
And yet we hunger and thirst for You,
like a thirsty little deer panting in the forest,
seeking a bubbling spring for a fresh sip of water!

Thank You, Abba Father,
For Being Our Hiding Place,
Our Deliverer,
Our Rock,
and Our Redeemer!
Fill Our Days With Songs Of Deliverance,
For Ourselves,
Our Families,
Our Nation,
and For Your People Israel!

LORD,We Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem.
We pray for peace to flow like Living Water
From the One True Rock and Redeemer.
Like Cool Refreshing Water
From the Stricken Rock in the Desert,
Refresh Your People Israel,
And give them rest from their enemies,
who press in from all sides.
Be a Fresh Blue Oasis for Them
in the midst of a harsh dry Wilderness
That threatens to crush them from every angle.

For the Sake of Your Anointed,
and For The Sake of Your Name,
We pray for the Peace of Jerusalem,
For Israel,
According to Your Word,
and Your Promise.

We Pray For Our President,
And other Leaders of Our Beloved USA
May They Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The Travel Industry has been stood on its head with the evolution of "Timeshares". And now, the Timeshare Industry has been stood opn its head by something called "Air B & B". Today, I have two stories for you about this recent phenomenon, and then we will see how it relates to this Psalm.

1. The Manhattan Condo My two nephews are in Rock Band that is rapidly on the rise. If they play their cards right, and behave themselves, they might even "go national". It is very exciting for all of us, and they really ARE good. Anyway, their agent got them a gig in Manhattan (a real coup!) and booked their accommodations through Air B & B. They drove straight to the gig from Boston, set up, and played for four hours. Then, they packed up the van and proceeded to the condo to catch some sleep before driving home.

They got to the building at about three in the morning, and unloaded the valuable instruments from the van. Then they went up the elevator to the condo. When they got to the right floor, they saw, with horror, that the front door was hanging open. They didn't know what to do! Had the condo been burglarized? Were the criminals still inside? Was an "axe-murderer" lying in wait for them? Were they being set-up for a lawsuit? Could it be (shudder) GROUPIES????

My nephew didn't even know the name or number of the owner, and it was three o'clock in the morning, so he didn't feel as though he could call his agent, so he dialed 911.

Soon the NYPD showed up, and entered the Condo in true "SWAT TEAM" manner. There was nothing awry, and not even a stick of furniture moved, which deepened the mystery. The NYPD guys called the station and asked for help. Meanwhile, they hung out with the band. Eventually, they found out the the culprit had been the GAS COMPANY. Earlier in the evening a resident in the building had smelled gas, and the Gas Company opened the doors of all the apartments to find a leak. There had been no leak and the smell may have come from elsewhere. The NYPD left, the boys went to bed, and the next day they came home.

2. My Cape Cod Birthday My birthday was last month, and my younger sister rented a tiny cottage on Cape Cod for the weekend. She specifically chose one that allowed dogs, so I could bring Penny. (Penny doesn't board well, as she is a rescued Pit Bull, and doesn't play nice with other dogs). So I packed Penny's bed, her afghan, two days worth of kibble, and a can of ground dog food. I forgot, however, my cruet of 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil which is her daily supplement. (Evidently Penny loves Mediterranean Cuisine). The tiny house was adorable, and we had a wonderful time, but Penny turned her nose up at her food. As we were leaving to come home, I discarded the sneered-at chow in her bowl, and cleaned up around it. All packed, we did the quick once-over before leaving, and then I saw it. On the tiny spice rack, over the tiny stove, was a tiny bottle of Philippo Berio 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil!

Psalm 15 is a beautiful song about Access to God. (see also Psalm 24:3-6, and Isaiah 33:14-16). Like The Manhattan Condo and The Tiny Cottage on the Cape, people do not normally have "access" unless arrangements are made. Nevertheless, when faced with an obstacle (such as the door left ajar by the Gas Company), we know instinctively that we do NOT have access. We can't just "waltz in" and take up residence.

Mankind has invented all kinds of schemes to gain access to his gods. The Wonders of the Ancient World, such as Angkor Wat and Karnak, were huge rambling structures built for that purpose. Elaborate ceremonies were invented to provide access, but it was only for certain people, such as priests, kings, political big-wigs, or the very wealthy. Ceremonies, liturgies, ritual purity, sacrifices, long speeches and prayers, and lots of money were involved. Even in the Torah, there were very strict commandments of Ritual Purity, and David himself ached with longing to build a worthy Temple for his God.

And yet, here is this Psalm. "Who may dwell in His tent?" David asks. The word "dwell" does not mean access by generational privileged, wealth, political or religious power, ceremony, ritual purity, or sacrifice. It does not mean access as a priest, a servant, or a tenant, but as a guest or family member. This speaks of "son-ship" or "adoption". God is not running a "B & B". For David to "get" this and to sing of it publicly is REVOLUTIONARY.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. ...Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.’” (2 Chronicles 20)

Great discussion on access.

One of my favorite comes to mind:

For thus saith the high and lofty One
that inhabiteth eternity,
whose name is Holy;

I dwell in the high and holy place,
with him also
that is of a contrite and humble spirit,
to revive the spirit of the humble,
and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Isaiah 57:15
