Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 11

Psalm 11

For the director of music. Of David.

1 In the Lord I take refuge.
    How then can you say to me:
    “Flee like a bird to your mountain.
2 For look, the wicked bend their bows;
    they set their arrows against the strings
to shoot from the shadows
    at the upright in heart.
3 When the foundations are being destroyed,
    what can the righteous do?”

4 The Lord is in his holy temple;
    the Lord is on his heavenly throne.
He observes everyone on earth;
    his eyes examine them.
5 The Lord examines the righteous,
    but the wicked, those who love violence,
    he hates with a passion.
6 On the wicked he will rain
    fiery coals and burning sulfur;
    a scorching wind will be their lot.

7 For the Lord is righteous,
    he loves justice;
    the upright will see his face.

Our Father in Heaven,
Blessed Are You,
Oh LORD, Our God,
King of The Universe
You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The One true God of Abraham.
Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent,
There is No One Like You.
Your Name is Holy,
Blessed, and Hallowed,
Let us never,
even by mistake,
take Your Wonderful Name in Vain!

How Difficult it sometimes is, Father,
To Speak Your Word to those who need to hear it!
To Warn people that their actions and their words,
Are leading them farther and farther away from You.
And we struggle and strive to hold them back
From marching blindly into the maw of destruction!
Sometimes we must do this,
When we would much rather be
Tending our own garden and minding our own business.
But You call us to be a Faithful Witness to Your Holy Word.
Give Us Insight into What Is REALLY Going On.
Open Our Eyes to The Spiritual Warfare that Is Taking Place,
So That We Will Be Armed properly,
And not take these attacks personally.
Guard us against those who would bring down the wrath of the authorities
On those who speak the Truth.

Thank You, Father, For Your Prophetic Word,
Your Holy Prophets,
Your Insight, and Your Discernment.
Thank You For Giving Us Guidance For What Lies Before Us,
And Hope For Your Blessed Appearing!


Scatter and Confuse the Enemies of Israel,
Who are also Our Enemies.
May all their nobles and all their princes,
Who said, “Let us take for ourselves
The pastures of God for a possession.”
Be made like the whirling dust,

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The widespread use of the Internet has added hundreds of new idiomatic expressions to our language. In fact, a person from the mid Twentieth Century, which was not so long ago, would be totally puzzled by this sentence:

"If you are having a hard time posting images, just use this HTML code, deleting all the spaces. If you are still having issues, text me, or see my latest post on FB. I'll tweet you later so you can bookmark the page. SYL, BFF :-)"

Just imagine yourself in the Signal Corps on a South Pacific Island in 1943, getting a message like that!

One of the new phrases that has come out of the new technology is "concern troll". This is how the Urban Online Dictionary defines it:

Concern Troll

1. (Noun) The Concern Troll differentiates itself from more outwardly nasty cousins by using generally polite language and claiming to agree with their victims. They then claim that their victims are essentially "doing it wrong," to help, they offer advice which would either invalidate their victims' position, cause an inherent hypocrisy with their philosophy, or render them unable to effectively advocate for it.

Their first known appearance was in talk radio, where they would open up their call with, "I'm such a huge fan, and you're always right, but..." usually followed with statements completely at odds with the philosophy governing the show. They were nicknamed by some as "seminar callers," because progressive groups in the USA had actually funded seminars where they taught followers to use this tactic against opposition voices on the radio in the '90s. These deceptive practices and individuals have since metastasized into the internet.

This is why most Concern Trolls are found on boards or the comment sections of political subjects; they use this tactic to attempt to sow seeds of doubt, and weaken their political opposition. Most are left-wing progressives, although a smattering of alt-right Concern trolls have begun to appear.

The cure for the typical nasty troll is the simple statement, "don't feed the trolls," i.e., ignore them. The cure for the Concern Troll is, "NEVER TAKE THE ADVICE!" (And if you are attracting them, likely you are doing something right)(More at this link)



Now , with that in mind, let's look at Psalm 12. It is a Psalm of David, for the public (referred to the Music Director) and sings of complete confidence and trust in the Lord, even in the face of opposition.

David starts right out rebuking the "concern trolls" in his own administration. These people are evidently so distressed by the activities of the opposition that they are urging David to "flee to the mountains". Evidently they have already conceded defeat at the hands of the enemy, and are concerned that their king isn't seeing things the way they do. The archers mentioned here can either be real archers with bows and arrows, or slanderers and liars who are attacking the king with False Witness, Innuendo, and Calumny. Then comes the ultimate cry of defeat:

"When the foundations are being destroyed,
what can the righteous do?”

What follows is an exhortation, born of David's Faith in The One True God. He dismisses the dreary pessimism of the concern troll with the Glorious Declaration of the Sovereignty, Righteousness, and Justice of God. He compares to coming Judgement of the Wicked to the Judgement on Sodom and Gomorrah, fire from heaven. And, finally, the Magnificent assertion of relationship with the Almighty:

For the Lord is righteous,
he loves justice;
the upright will see his face.

Worry and Faith are incompatible. We can, of course, mourn, grieve, repent, feel sorrow, and prepare for the future, but worrying ourselves into defeat is not of God.
