Moscow, October 29, Interfax - Archpriest Dimitry Smirnov, the head of the Patriarch's Commission on Family Affairs, says that the Bases of Family Life should become the main subject during the whole period of school education.
"The family should become the principle school subject from 1st to 11th grade," the priest said on air Komsomolskaya Pravda radio.
According to him, the system of family education was destroyed in Soviet times, the society has mostly forgotten about traditional roles of a man and a woman, and finally "we have a manlike woman and womanlike man" and it is "a catastrophe, losing of God given characters."
Father Dimitry believes that modern men, who were brought up by modern women, become "bunnies." "A man-boy has only heard from his mother: eat the porridge, he was fed up. Mother and granny take care of him at home, nurses and female tutors - in the kindergarten, female teacher and director - in school... Moreover, in every such a class with equal rights, girls grow much faster, they start overgrowing boys from the fifth grade and boys are suppressed," the priest described his vision of the situation.
According to him, in order to improve the state of things and return traditional social roles to men and women, the state should "lead propaganda purposefully, in prime time." "Thanks to God, we know where we should return."
This brings tears to my eyes. Should be taught in every school.

I sure am glad we Catholic school children prayed the rosary in the 1950s for the conversion of Russia.
