Jesus says we would be very much mistaken to suppose that those who have gone on before us, are "dead."

If that's true; then John has some explain' to do!

John 5:28-29

28 Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming when all who are in their graves will hear His voice 29 and come out—those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.

I see only very few who have 'gone on before us'.

To teach that ALL believers have; at death; already gone into Heaven cannot be supported by scripture.

We humans DO have a tendency to lie to our little ones when we then them Gramma's in a better place now.

Ever virgin??

Sounds like someone needs some counseling sessions!!

1 Corinthians 7:4

The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife.

There are two judgments: the Particular Judgment (immediately after death) and the General Judgment at the end of the world.

It's possible for a person in a state of grace to be in Heaven the very day they die.

Jesus said to the repentant man on the other cross: "This day you will be with me in Paradise."

Catholics I know read and follow horoscopes daily, wear good luck charms, believe in luck, and believe in superstitions like the #13, black cats, walking under a ladder, not walking on sidewalk cracks, use tarot cards, watch Theresa Caputo’s Long Island Mediums TV show, etc. It’s too bad Catholics are no longer catechized.

Indeed, the search engines have been discriminating against conservatives for some time, especially Google.

I don’t know my history of courtly poetry well enough to dispute or add to your words, so I’ll let the discussion stand here; I’m sure that we will continue our dispute at a later date.

(Well, that and I put off finishing moving all these boxes quite long enough.)

The ‘particular judgment’ I would argue is right now, considering how St. Paul states that we currently have salvation. Anyone trusting Christ to forgive their sins has that forgiveness, for their sins were judged on the cross with Jesus and the grand exchange of our sin for his righteousness has already happened.

Or perhaps both right now AND in the future at the same time, since God’s perception of time is so far advanced from our perception of time.

Scripture also makes it clear that unlike Mormon beliefs, once you’ve passed on from this life, there’s no changing your final destination; that we’re agreed on. Also that there will be positive judgment for the good deeds we have done in this life.
