Six thought-provoking --- and permanently applicable ----thoughts on the Church:

"Everything must be done so that the Church may be built up." - 1 Corinthians 14:26

"This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the Church" (Ephesians 5:32)

All who are of Christ, who have his Spirit, form one Church and in Christ cleave together. - CCC (Catechism of the Catholic Church)

"Be shepherds of the church of God, which He bought with His own blood." - Acts 20:28

"If he refuses to listen even to the Church, regard him as you would a pagan or a tax collector."

`

`

There's always a paradox there. There's always more there than meets the eye.

the paradox is what you define as the Church. To catholics the Church means the catholic church. To the rest of us it means the body of believers across the ages saved by Jesus. And that difference is definition is why we probably will never see eye to eye. Remember Christ also said if your eye offends pluck it out.

It’s the fault of the media and the usual suspects for giving this mentally ill child a platform in which to spew her brainwashed propaganda (and her parents for going along with indulging their sick progeny).

Asperger’s and high functioning autism aren’t a mental illness.

It’s a developmental ‘handicap’, which they likely don’t worry about at all since the number one characteristic is a lack of normal social skills.

But it doesn’t indicate emotional distress and they can even have above normal intelligence.

I would disagree that she does not suffer from mental illness (and your conclusion Asperger’s and high functioning autism aren’t so). Merely watching her for more than a few minutes indicates she clearly is mentally unsound.

As an aside, it’s hard to keep up with the changes the APA engages in with its DSM, not based on sound science but politics and social pressure.

I’ve worked al day and I just got home....and I have a bank meeting at 900

But here you go even though I know you will simply decide to deny the data

MaryKnoll nuns collaborating with leftist guerrilas in Central America is not new....they were active in Guatemala 30 years prior to the crime of their murder in El Salvador

My opinion is as evidenced by Francis

Liberation Theology is a scourge of the Catholic Church

It’s like the infection of race based political correctness infecting my own denomination heads in Nashville

Except Catholic influence worldwide is exponentially larger

Thank you for the articles you linked to, which really reveal a great deal about the killing of these four American churchwomen. This quote, from the anush.com article you sent me, really gets to the heart of it:

"I have never doubted that the soldiers who killed the three nuns had their orders from above. It would have taken only someone in the middle level of authority to approve these killings. The decision to kill these three particular persons would not have been considered very important."

And there you have it. Aside from the inaccuracy (four defenseless women were killed, not three) this says it very well. Someone "in the middle level of authority" was powerful enough to order these extrajuducial killings --- not dwelling, for the moment, on the hours'-long bone-breaking bludgeoning, strangulation and sexual torture ---- because killing these particular persons "would not have been considered very important."

So four American citizens --- unarmed, not carrying weapons, drugs or contraband, leaving the USA legally and entering El Salvador legally with emergency medical supplies --- can be abducted, tortured, and murdered. In certain contexts. Why?

Because some Maryknollers were known to be communists? That this was true of some, is uncontested. But Sister Ita and Sister Maura were nursing and teaching nuns, not combatants or ideologues.

Because some Liberation Theology theorists had quite a bit of cachet both in American Universities and with the Catholic Left? No doubt -- but Sr. Dorothy Kazel was an Ursuline nun who taught literacy, Bible and child nutrition; and Jean Donovan was an accountant who kept records and drove a van. With not bombs, but baby food.

Because they sympathized with the people they were working with? These were refugees who had been driven from their homes, and lands. These were destitute families whose breadwinners had been shot by death squads, The mission staff buried the bodies.

Yeah, Civil War is like that.

Some Guardsmen --- some middle-level authorities --- didn't think singling out and assassinating four particular people --- or any particular people --- was particularly important.

You think you have supplied the necessary political context. If you think political context mitigates the surveilling, abducting, and torture-murder of unarmed religious aid workers, I hope the Lord will bless you and keep you --- far away from me.

You just cant help yourself....few can to be honest

Nearly every post I wrote includes calling their killing wrong or murder

Yet that brass ring of self righteousness and the impulse to virtue signal proves too strong to resist for you

It doesn’t matter if one is a decent person inside and saved by Christ

If you associate with leftist guerrillas in a brutal civil war you can expect to die for that if you enter the fray

Period

And you could reverse that whereby the leftists will kill right wing supporters no matter their personal moral code

It’s the nature of war especially wars of that nature

I don’t think anyone thinks it’s justified...raping and murdering nuns though it’s sadly not uncommon in war since nuns tend to be near the conflict and if you take sides you exponentially increase your risk from the savage

Remember in the Unforgiven when Little Bill (Hackman) looks up at William Munny (Clint) who’s standing over him with his Spencer big bore rifle that belonged to Ned played by Morgan Freeman

Little Bill says “I don’t deserve this”

Munny says “deserve ain’t got nothing to do with it”

The need to stake self righteousness and virtue signal is I think the strongest emotion in western civilization today

It’s the new Church Lady

A certain irony there eh?

I’ll give you last word if you would like

Usage note: "virtue-signaling" vs "virtue".

"Virtue-signaling" is when it doesn't cost you anything but creates photo-ops in look-at-me glamorous way. (Greta Thunberg sailing in an 18-meter, $4 million racing yacht to New York so she could say she still had a teeny-tiny carbon footprint.)

"Virtue" is when--- like Jean Donovan, trying to deliver meds and food to the sick and hungry ---- you do something that would actually help, you speak up clearly and you pay up personally.
