ON THE PAPAL PLANE A quip by Pope Francis aboard the papal plane this morning raised a few eyebrows of those traveling with him and sent his press handlers scrambling.
After takeoff on his way to the Mozambique capital of Maputo, the Pope customarily greeted journalists on the papal plane. Among those he met was Nicolas Seneze, Rome correspondent for the French Catholic daily newspaper La Croix, which just published Senezes book, How America Wants to Change the Pope.
The book threads together different aspects of this pontificate in particular the McCarrick abuse scandal and the Archbishop Carlo Viganò testimony to conclude that influential figures in the U.S. Church are out to, if not replace Pope Francis, then to actively challenge him.
The book quotes professor Massimo Faggioli of Villanova as saying wealthy conservative Catholics have stepped into the vacuum of authority left by the sex abuse scandal to become the de facto leaders of the Catholic Church in the U.S.

I haven’t heard a single noteworthy comment or proclamation made by this Pope that’s consistent with what I was taught during 10.5 years of Catholic school during the 1950s/1960s.
Those were the days when they went to church and we had a Pope !
I wonder if he’d be so proud to have one of our boots up his Marxist a**.
Is the Pope the leader of the Catholic church or not?
It is a simple question all Catholics should know the answer to.
Alredy answered in post #18.
He’s more of a politician than a pope.
As it stands, this Anti-Pope has destroyed what’s left of the Catholic Church. The lawsuits are also ripping the church to shreds. God lives on and Catholicism is still here but the church is leaderless of true faith and original virtues and rudderless.

One can only hope this is true. The Catholic Church has been comprised by the enemy.
Francis the Fake gladly accepts American money from the collection baskets.
I will pray for him. He needs an epiphany.
Jesus is the true Leader of all Christian believers.
The Catholic Church is one of the principal enemies of the United States.
Who wants to argue that contention?
“with the intent of destroying it”
It’s already done.
Wake up.
Our Polish priest (now a U.S. citizen) isn’t led by this Pope.
He’s a huge Trump supporter and criticizes Francis from the pulpit. None of this chain of command stuff. He thinks our bishop is a squishy liberal, too.
Something about Poles knowing what real despotism is, whether Nazi or Soviet or Muslim.
Poland is the only European nation that people here are actually eager to visit. Muslim free and safe.
“International criminals should be sure they understand what RICO means in the US.”
That’s where I’m at.
Send a brigade to the Vatican and extradite the Pope under RICO.
A specific Pope can be the nominal leader of the Catholic Church, but not all Pope's are. Anyone of man/woman/humanity is flawed, thus all Popes are flawed, as are all ministers, pastors, Rabbis, Imams, etc. Catholic means 'universal', and the Catholic Church is supposed to be the universal Christian Church. That said, the Catholic Church has failed in this over, and over, and over again. Nonetheless, all Christians, whether Protestant or Catholic are members of the wider church of Christ - AND, are spiritual descendants of Judaism. My point is that no one group has all credibility and truth.
I do wonder how much longer Catholics will keep donating money to what is simply an arm of the Democrat Party at this point.
Who wants to argue that contention?
I'll be the first to argue against that.
