Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Old Testament)

2 Kings 24

Zedekiah King of Judah

18 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. His mother’s name was Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah; she was from Libnah. 19 He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, just as Jehoiakim had done. 20 It was because of the Lord’s anger that all this happened to Jerusalem and Judah, and in the end he thrust them from his presence.

The Fall of Jerusalem

Now Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

It Is Such A Good Thing To Praise Your Name,
Holy and Sanctified,
And Worthy To Be Praised!
It Is Fitting to Those Who Love You To Lift Up Your Holy Name,
To Exalt You, and to Exult in the Glory of Your Holiness!
For You Alone Are Worthy of Worship and Praise,
Rock of Ages,
Ancient of Days!

Thank You, Almighty, Everlasting Father,
For Your Eternal Promise to Your People.
Thank You For Your Holy, Immutable Word,
Which Stands the Scrutiny of Time.
Thank You For Your Faithfulness,
And For Being True To Your Covenants,
Even When We Are Not.
For As You Say:

"Let God Be True,
And Every man a liar."

We Pray For Those In Our Own Beloved USA, Dear LORD.
We Thank You For Recent Victories,
But We Know There is a Rough Road Ahead.
Keep us Focused and True to You,
And Keep us from the Temptation to Rest on our Laurels and "Go With The Flow".

We Pray For Our President,
And other Leaders of Our Beloved USA
May They Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

King Jehoiachin, who was put in office by his Babylonian overlords, was a horrible king. The Babylonians even changed his name for him, as a way of establishing dominance over him. Now known as Zedekiah, he was to be a servile vassal to Babylon, and keep Judea "in line" in order to keep the peace.

That was his job. It would have been an easy thing to live out his years as a puppet of Babylon, assuring the succession of his own sons, keeping Jerusalem intact, and perhaps letting the clock run out on that particular phase of the Babylonian Empire.

But NOoooo. Zedekiah rebelled, and precipitated the most cataclysmic catastrophe to hit the Jews, which is still mourned and lamented today, 2500 years later.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the purposes of His heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His inheritance! (Psalm 33)

We pray in particular on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Libya and throughout the Mideast. The members of the oldest of our Christian Communities, some of which date from the days of the Apostles, suffer under cruel, merciless and unrelenting persecution. They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."
