Unlike Lizzy’s claims, our parents NEVER mentioned this when we were growing up, as “inter-racial” heritage was once frowned upon. We found out later during the nineties when there was a genealogy craze going on. In those days, one had to go to the various city halls and parishes and do ACTUAL research into birth and baptismal records. (No Internet, No DNA testing Companies) My grandmother’s Canadian birth certificate had the French word “sauvage” on it, meaning “SAVAGE”. Yeah, that’s what the oh-so-civilized Canadians called an innocent baby who was part Indian.
So I never bought Lizzy’s line about her family BOASTING about being “Cherokee” when she was a child.
WOW
That’s pretty backwards, savage.
And that is a lot of effort.
It takes almost no effort today and I don’t do it :)
