Harp considers himself a devout Catholic. He starts every morning with mediation and prayer and prays the Hail Mary at least once a day. He tries to attend Mass every Sunday. When he was in his 20s, he said he wanted to follow every rule he could. Now he questions how those rules bring him closer to God.

IMHO this is the danger that comes after centuries of preaching form over substance. People follow the correct rules, so they think they're OK.

Had these people had the same passion for the welfare of their own posterity, we would be in a much different world right now.

Somebody ought to tell these geriatric liberal kooks to “check their privilege.” See what kind of response that gets. LOL.

. . .

Parishioners estimate about 50 fewer people typically attend Mass on Sundays – about half of what it was a year ago.

On this day, it was 24.

. . .

At this Sunday Mass, however, there was practically no one left to resist.

New faces were scattered across the church. Tom Hogan said many were either recruited or from the neighborhood.

The music was subdued, reverent. People held songbooks and sang. They didn’t clap. No one shook maracas or hit tambourines.

After the Nicene Creed, no one said the community commitment.

As Kuforiji began to consecrate the bread and wine, kneeling cushions creaked as worshippers pulled them down from the pews.

They knelt.

Tom Hogan and five others stood.

How Ever will this story end, for that church and parish?

A radical and instant change for these snowflakes, from “run amok” and back to the actual Catholic faith will leave how many Catholic faithful left there, I wonder? Something to watch..

Catholic identity has been annihilated there and broadly, in all the Western nations.

Perhaps the Archdiocese is basically trying hard to simply first, save the church and property from closure, in order to re-establish it as Catholic and restore the entire parish neighborhood.

Perhaps a last gasp challenge, but a mighty and heroic one. I do pray that good Bishop Sample and the Archbishop are gifted by enjoying an eventual success.

We all need to pray for Father Geroge.

They had a hundred people attending Sunday mass. Is that even enough to call a parish?

Even 100 people is a good start. This is an effort to rebuild the Church, one parish at a time.

Remember,it was Africa where the Church spread to in the early centuries. The Church is growing again in Africa.

A wonderful person. His vocation to be a priest came to him when he was working as a janitor at a Catholic Church which shall remain nameless.

After what they have been through, 100 is enough!

You make my point. Also, the comment that factored in a “recruitment” of warm bodies, by the snowflake contingency, to that Mass?

A great challenge to save that parish church.

This lack of discipline is the Vlazny legacy. He did not push lefty Catholicism, but did have an ‘anything goes’ attitude. His female henchman chancellor was another story. She would fit right in with these women.

Archbishop Sample has gradually, gently been trying to help wayward parishes refine their behavior. He is the most respectful and fair-minded bishop you could imagine.

George did more in 11 months than Levada did in 11 years.

Levada was an improvement on his predecessor, but his pace of reform might be measured in Millenia.
