Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Old Testament)

2 Kings 15

Jotham King of Judah

32 In the second year of Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel, Jotham son of Uzziah king of Judah began to reign. 33 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. His mother’s name was Jerusha daughter of Zadok. 34 He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father Uzziah had done. 35 The high places, however, were not removed; the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there. Jotham rebuilt the Upper Gate of the temple of the Lord.

36 As for the other events of Jotham’s reign, and what he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah? 37 (In those days the Lord began to send Rezin king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah against Judah.) 38 Jotham rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David, the city of his father. And Ahaz his son succeeded him as king.

During the chaos and mishegas of kings, successions, assassinations, plots, hostage-taking, and exile in the Northern Kingdom, things were relatively quiet in the Southern Kingdom of Judah. Uzziah possibly had a co-regency with his son Jotham, but eventually Uzziah died and his son succeeded him as King of Judah.

The Call of Isaiah

Dear Prayer Warriors, I have to attend a funeral today for a friend's dad, and it is a bit of a journey, so I won't be answering your posts right away.

Today's reading gives us a brief interlude as The Kingdom of Judah has a "good" king for a while. The Mighty Prophet Isaiah begins his ministry during this period, and the Northern Kingdom is having a run of very bad kings. This is also a time when The Assyrian Empire is in its ascendancy, and The King of Aram is still making trouble in the area. It is a time of International Intrigue, and the people of God need to turn back to Him.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the purposes of His heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His inheritance! (Psalm 33)

THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
And for the Preservation of the Valiant
Israeli Nation!

N the second year of Pekah the son of Remaliah king of Israel began Jotham the son of Uzziah king of Judah to reign. Five and twenty years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name

was Jerusha, the daughter of Zadok.

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD: he did according to all that his father Uzziah had done.

Howbeit the high places were not removed: the people sacrificed and burned incense still in the high places. He built the higher gate of the house of the LORD.

Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

In those days the LORD began to send against Judah Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah.

And Jotham slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Ahaz his son reigned in his stead.
