Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Old Testament)
2 Kings 13
Jehoash King of Israel
10 In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned sixteen years. 11 He did evil in the eyes of the Lord and did not turn away from any of the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit; he continued in them.
12 As for the other events of the reign of Jehoash, all he did and his achievements, including his war against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel? 13 Jehoash rested with his ancestors, and Jeroboam succeeded him on the throne. Jehoash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.
14 Now Elisha had been suffering from the illness from which he died. Jehoash king of Israel went down to see him and wept over him. My father! My father! he cried. The chariots and horsemen of Israel!
15 Elisha said, Get a bow and some arrows, and he did so. 16 Take the bow in your hands, he said to the king of Israel. When he had taken it, Elisha put his hands on the kings hands.
17 Open the east window, he said, and he opened it. Shoot! Elisha said, and he shot. The Lords arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Aram! Elisha declared. You will completely destroy the Arameans at Aphek.
18 Then he said, Take the arrows, and the king took them. Elisha told him, Strike the ground. He struck it three times and stopped. 19 The man of God was angry with him and said, You should have struck the ground five or six times; then you would have defeated Aram and completely destroyed it. But now you will defeat it only three times.
20 Elisha died and was buried.
Now Moabite raiders used to enter the country every spring. 21 Once while some Israelites were burying a man, suddenly they saw a band of raiders; so they threw the mans body into Elishas tomb. When the body touched Elishas bones, the man came to life and stood up on his feet.
22 Hazael king of Aram oppressed Israel throughout the reign of Jehoahaz. 23 But the Lord was gracious to them and had compassion and showed concern for them because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. To this day he has been unwilling to destroy them or banish them from his presence.
24 Hazael king of Aram died, and Ben-Hadad his son succeeded him as king. 25 Then Jehoash son of Jehoahaz recaptured from Ben-Hadad son of Hazael the towns he had taken in battle from his father Jehoahaz. Three times Jehoash defeated him, and so he recovered the Israelite towns.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Bless the LORD, Oh My Soul,
And let All That is Within Me Bless His Most Holy Name!
Abba Father,
Blessed Are You,
Oh LORD, Our God!
King of the Universe,
Ancient of Days,
Rock of All Ages!
It is You, and You Alone, Who Created All Things,
And You Alone Who Know The End from The Beginning,
And the Beginning from The End.
1. Give the king Your judgments, O God,
And Your righteousness to the kings Son.
2. He will judge Your people with righteousness,
And Your poor with justice.
3. The mountains will bring peace to the people,
And the little hills, by righteousness.
4. He will bring justice to the poor of the people;
He will save the children of the needy,
And will break in pieces the oppressor. (From Psalm 72)
Hallelujah!

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The following is a personal story, and so you can take of leave it as you will.
Back in 2015 there were many candidates for president, especially on the Republican side. At one point there were sixteen Republicans duking it out onstage in the debates and it was pretty discouraging. Even here on my beloved FR, things were getting rancorous, and some left the site never to return. It was a hard time for all of us.
During a prayer meeting with some friends, a woman spoke a powerful prayer that seemed to be inspired by The Holy Spirit. She prayed, and then suddenly said, "Trust in God, and don't be afraid to put MORE than three arrows into the ground."
Well, since this was a reference to one of the hardest sections of Scripture to "wade through" (2 Kings!), many of us were puzzled by this utterance. Thank Goodness there are excellent Bible Study Tools on the Internet, and I used good keywords and found this Passage that we are reading today. Even though nobody knew who the Nominee was going to be at the time, I read the passage and saw that God was saying that we should not put Limits on His Power, and that by totally trusting in Him, we would win, win, win, and win some more if we do not get tired of winning.
Guess what happened.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the purposes of His heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His inheritance! (Psalm 33)
God Bless America!

Would you happen to know if Jeroboam was supposed to have known the number of times he should have struck the ground?

Well, since God’s Power is Infinite, I would suppose he should have done it until he ran out of arrows.
Just as God wants ALL of our faith, not just what we can spare at the moment.

However, I noticed that God didn’t PUNISH the king for his small faith, but only rewarded him in proportion to it.
And then, further along, the dead guy tossed into Elisha’s Tomb is resurrected, and dead guys don’t have ANY Faith at all.
To whom much is given, much is expected.
