Disturbing you say? ... How much eternal life have you earned so far, through the Catholic Mass, through running your rosary, through devotion to The Catholic Mary? Do you wear Catholic medals and scapulae? When do you expect to receive eternal life?
The following is not hogwash, ebb:
“Does this offend you? What if you saw the Son of Man going up to the place where he was before? It’s the Spirit who gives life; the flesh accomplishes nothing. The words that I’ve spoken to you are spirit and life."
Right. And the Rosary started in honor of Mary, because St. Dominic had failed for years to suppress a heresy (Albigensianism -- the spirit is good and the material world is bad -- which heresy stomps all over the incarnation of Jesus as a man).
He failed, until he asked Mary to help. (You know, since she is the *Mother* of Jesus, and that kind of has something to do with the Incarnation, I guess.)
When that worked, Dominic concluded that asking her for help worked.
