I explained that it's a sacramental (a blessed, symbolic object) like a wedding ring (which is also classified, in the Catholic faith, as a sacramental.) You scoffed at that but did not comment further.
But if you, or Mrs. Ealgeone, wear a wedding ring, think of what it means and what it doesn't mean. Its intent is to publicly manifest your wedded state, your belonging to your spouse. Most people have wedding rings in our culture, but they are not Biblical. They are neither New Testament nor anti-New Testament. They are meaningful to many, but a ring (or rings) will never be considered essential for a marriage.
Sacramentals can only be thought to contradict the New Testament if they are misconstrued or misrepresented.
Now, thinking of our love for Mary: maybe we would all hope to be "beloved disciples" of Christ. I would think a beloved disciple of Jesus would love His mother, even adopt her as his own.
Seeing His mother Many and His discople John at the foot of His cross, didn't Jesus say to Mary ---with great love and with one of His painful, dying breaths --- "Mother, behold your son"? And to John, "Behold your mother"?
However, as I explained to you that is not what the apparition said.
The comparison of the wedding ring fails for this reason.
The apparition made a specific promise that the one wearing it would avoid the eternal fire.
In the year 1251, in the town of Aylesford in England, Our Lady appeared to St. Simon Stock, a Carmelite. She handed him a brown woolen scapular and said, This shall be a privilege for you and all Carmelites, that anyone dying in this habit shall not suffer eternal fire. In time, the Church extended this magnificent privilege to all the laity who are willing to be invested in the Brown Scapular of the Carmelites and who perpetually wear it.https://www.sistersofcarmel.com/brown-scapular-information.php
For this idol to "work" the person has to do the following:
The Blessed Virgin assigned certain conditions which must be fulfilled:
1.Wear the Brown Scapular continuously.
2.Observe chastity according to ones state in life (married/single).
3.Recite daily the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin OR Observe the fasts of the Church together with abstaining from meat on Wednesdays and Saturdays OR With permission of a priest, say five decades of Our Ladys Most Holy Rosary OR With permission of a priest, substitute some other good work.

It was a specific promise to avoid Hell. Some of your fellow RCs wear these out of fear of going to Hell.
Roman Catholics try to push these kind of comparisons in order to justify their idolatry in these matters.
There is no way this can be justified when compared to Scripture.
Indeed, would think a beloved disciple of Jesus would love His mother - the one of Scripture that is, versus the fictitious mighty demigoddess lauded and treated as deity in Catholicism - and love all the mothers of Christ as well.
And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. (Matthew 12:49-50)
I just LOVE it when a NEW item appears in a thread.
Not ALL of them need be thought of as a new rabbit hole or a red herring.
Why?
Why not Jesus' gramma; too?
HIS great-gramma?
Where will it end??
The post pinged with this post to you is a stark example of the blindness of adherents to the religion of The Pope in Rome. Such devotees are spiritually unable to see the heresy. Can you discern it?
