Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Old Testament)

2 Kings 8

Ahaziah King of Judah

25 In the twelfth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign. 26 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother’s name was Athaliah, a granddaughter of Omri king of Israel. 27 He followed the ways of the house of Ahab and did evil in the eyes of the Lord, as the house of Ahab had done, for he was related by marriage to Ahab’s family.

28 Ahaziah went with Joram son of Ahab to war against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth Gilead. The Arameans wounded Joram; 29 so King Joram returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds the Arameans had inflicted on him at Ramoth[c] in his battle with Hazael king of Aram.

Then Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to Jezreel to see Joram son of Ahab, because he had been wounded.

The Southern Kingdom of Judah also had its Share of Rotten Kings.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Abba, Father,
Blessed is Your Holy Name!
Blessed Are You,
Oh LORD, Our God,
King of The Universe,
Mighty and Glorious,
Eternal,
Immortal,
and Almighty!
You Alone Are Worthy of Our Most Humble Worship!
For You Alone Are The Most High!
Shout Unto the LORD with Gladness,
Serve Him With Joy,
For He is The One True God Of Abraham,
And The One Who Delivers Us from Our Enemies!

1. Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer.
2. From the end of the earth I will cry to You,
When my heart is overwhelmed;
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

3. For You have been a shelter for me,
A strong tower from the enemy.
4. I will abide in Your tabernacle forever;
I will trust in the shelter of Your wings.
Selah

Oh LORD, Some trust in Chariots,
and some in horses,
But we depend on the name of Our God!

Thank You LORD,
For This Assurance From Your Holy Word.
It Is hard to remember this sometimes,
when we look at the state of the world in which we live.
Forgive us for our lack of faith.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins of Our Own Nation as well,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

ML/LTOS

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

We turn now from the disastrous and dysfunctional succession of obnoxious kings of the Northern Kingdom to rest our hearts upon the Family of David who are still ruling in the Southern Kingdom Judah. Uh...not so fast with the "resting our hearts" part! It looks as though the Family of David had its own "Rouge's Gallery" of jerks and losers. The names are so similar and the overlapping reigns so confusing that we need catch words to keep them all straight. "He did evil in the sight of the LORD" and He was not like his father David" are enough to tell us all we need to know about each king.

Complicating matters is the fact that sometimes there was a co-regency for a few years, and then, one regent either died or was bumped off, and the other ruled alone.

Ahaziah only ruled in Judah for a year. His mother Athaliah was a granddaughter of Omri king of Israel. (Omri, you may recall, was a predecessor to Ahab, and a really evil man.) Ahaziah's wife was related to Ahab as well.

It doesn't take long for Ahaziah to drag his country into a war, and gets wounded. Maybe things will get better after he's gone? Don't bet on it!

And yet, God continues to be faithful to His Promise to David.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

“You are like light for the whole world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a bowl; instead it is put on the lampstand, where it gives light for everyone in the house. In the same way your light must shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16)

God Bless America!
