The math doesn't work.
Jesus was born about 1 AD and died about 33 AD. The church started pretty soon after that and it wasn't very long before Saul began persecuting it. So by the 30's AD, Saul was already an adult.
I seriously doubt he lived another 200 years.

LOL P.S. I read it the same way you did. It was only after I actually REREAD IT OUT LOUD AND SLOWLY did I see the word “after,” in the sentence.

I would guess that they meant that Paul was a known personage to them through the letters and oral traditon and that this child was named after Him. As my son Peter was named after Peter Simon, the Apostle.
