Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Old Testament)

1 Kings 22

Ahaziah King of Israel.

51 Ahaziah son of Ahab became king of Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and he reigned over Israel two years. 52 He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, because he followed the ways of his father and mother and of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin. 53 He served and worshiped Baal and aroused the anger of the Lord, the God of Israel, just as his father had done.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God, How Excellent is Your Name over all the Earth! How Wonderful You Are; How Magnificent,
and How Glorious!
Magnified and Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name,
And from Generation to Generation,
Shall all People Call You Great and Wonderful!
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The One True God Of Abraham!
The Heavens Declare your Glory,
And With Every New Bit Of Knowledge
We Gain Of Nature and the Firmament,
We Are Overwhelmed By The Awesomeness of You.
For You Created it All,
Your Imagination is Boundless,
Endless, Eternal, Limitless.
How can anyone presume to know Your Ways,
or to Speak For You?

And Yet,
Abba Father,
You have given us Permission to Call You "Father",
In the most affectionate and childlike manner,
Like a baby's first words,
when first pressing his lips together to make articulate sounds,
"ABBA", Beloved Father,
We Pray to You,
We Bare Our Souls To You,
and Cry Out To You when we are in Distress!

We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According to Your Will and Promise.
We Pray For the People and Leaders of Israel,
that They Will Look to You for the Protection
and Prosperity of their Nation.
We Also Pray For Revival in our own Beloved USA.

We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

This brief verse ends the First Book of Kings. Tomorrow we will begin a new Book (2 Kings) with a familiar cast of characters.

The divisions of Books, Chapters, and Verses in our modern Bibles were not in the original. At one time, 1 &2 Samuel and 1 & 2 Kings were all one Book! If you think that the fours Books we read today are a bit unwieldy, imagine it all on one big scroll, without punctuation or even VOWELS! Some very early translations still call these Books 1,2,3, & 4 Kings, but the current divisions suit me just fine. And I LOVE having vowels and punctuation.

The Books from Joshua to Esther are in the "History" Portion of my Bible Reading Program. It is so long that I only get through it once a year. The Prophets are also a once-a-year read. (The Torah, Epistles, and Poetry get two full readings, the Gospels several more, and Acts and Revelation get TWELVE a year because they are so short. If you are interested in the Reading Program, just drop me a FReepmail and I will outline it for you. I do my reading every morning over coffee, before I even do this Thread, and have been doing it since 2001!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

“You are like light for the whole world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a bowl; instead it is put on the lampstand, where it gives light for everyone in the house. In the same way your light must shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16)

God Bless America!

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR
THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
And for the Preservation of the Valiant
Israeli Nation!

_ HAZIAH the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel.

And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother,
and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin:

For he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the LORD God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH For Our Brethren Of All Faiths Throughout The World Suffering Persecution.
We pray in particular on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Libya and throughout the Mideast. The members of the oldest of our Christian Communities, some of which date from the days of the Apostles, suffer under cruel, merciless and unrelenting persecution. They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."
