Charles Carroll owned about 1,000 slaves so therefore he must be expunged from American history, except to demonize him and declare him a racist, etc.
I thought that Charles Carroll was involved in founding Washington DC, but I may be confusing that with Daniel Carroll, another Founding Father.
I have Carroll ancestors who fought in the Revolution, you can read about them in accounts of the Battle of Williamson’s Plantation, aka Huck’s Defeat. They lived in South Carolina and have no connection to the Maryland Carrolls that I know of.
