Did God Express His Indignation Over Pope Francis?

By David Martin

On Sunday, June 23, the Feast of Corpus Christi, Pope Francis in his Sunday address made what appeared to be a heretical statement. Speaking on the Holy Eucharist, he said:

"In the presence of the Eucharist, Jesus who becomes bread, this simple bread that contains the entire reality of the Church, let us learn to bless all that we have, to praise God, to bless and not curse all that has led us to this moment, and to speak words of encouragement to others."

The theological fact is that Jesus does not "become bread," but vice-versa. To say that Jesus becomes bread implies that Jesus ceases and becomes something else, i.e. bread, so that only the substance of bread is present in the consecrated Host. This is what Protestants believe.

The truth is that during the Sacrifice of the Mass, the "simple bread" ceases and becomes Jesus, so that only the substance of Jesus is present. As such, the bread cannot "contain the entire reality of the Church [Christ]" because the bread is not there to contain Him. This is why the physical property of the consecrated Host is called the accidents or sacred species, because cessation of the bread occurs during the consecration of the Mass.

By saying that the bread "contains" Jesus, Francis is also promoting consubstantiation, the coexistence of two substances together, i.e. Jesus and bread, which is what Luther taught and which the Church condemns.

Saying that the bread contains the “entire reality” of the Church also suggests that all things are contained in the Eucharist, thus tending to give an equality to everything, which Francis alludes to by saying, "let us learn to bless all that we have." Shall we bless our adultery too? (AL 303) What about learning to renounce all and to bless only God? Isn't this why we are on earth and why we were baptized Catholic?

Not surprisingly, an earthquake shook the city of Rome a few hours after Francis’ address. Italy’s Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) put the preliminary magnitude at 3.7. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre put the magnitude slightly higher, at 3.9.

Was this a sign from God? Was The Lord expressing His indignation over Francis’ error?

I don’t know. My only complaint against Pope Francis is that he supports homosexuality and socialism, hardly even mentions Jesus in his political speeches, and invites radical Muslims to forcibly convert every Christian away from the true faith.

Other than that he's great, right?

Other than that I’m sure he’s a fine representation of Jesus. Other than he doesn’t really believe anything that Jesus said.

He rarely mentions Christ because he, the Pope, is an anti-Christ.

“Call no man father”. I think Christ warned us that no one else can be trusted. That’s starting to show itself.

Francis isn’t the Pope, Benedict XVI botched his resignation. As for the earthquake who can tell?

I think Christ warned us that no one else can be trusted.

Would that be the same Christ who said to his Apostles, "Who hears you, hears me"? (Lk 10:16)

Christ chose his apostles because they had a heart after God. Same as any prophet or King of Israel.

God doesn’t grant wishes.
The Catholic Church members are going to have to deal with him.
Same for the rest of the infiltrated religious groups within the USA.

Does the Holy Spirit guide the College of Cardinals in selection of the pope or not?

So praying is basically futile?

Almighty and most merciful Father look down upon my misery with pity, strengthen me that I may overcome all sinful habits, grant that I may with effectual faith commemorate the death of thy Son Jesus Christ, so that all corrupt desires may be extinguished, and all vain thoughts may be dispelled. Enlighten me with true knowledge, animate me with reasonable hope, comfort me with a just sense of thy love, and assist me to the performance of all holy purposes, that after the sins, errours, and miseries of this world, I may obtain everlasting happiness for Jesus Christ’s sake. To whom, &c. Amen.

A 3.9 earthquake isn’t indignation, it’s a tap on the shoulder....

History tells us that the Church has always been under siege. This current crisis will pass. The gates of hell cannot prevail, the devil knows where to attack.
We should all go back to saying the St Michael the Archangel prayer.
