Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Old Testament)

1 Kings 9

The Lord Appears to Solomon

9 When Solomon had finished building the temple of the Lord and the royal palace, and had achieved all he had desired to do, 2 the Lord appeared to him a second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon. 3 The Lord said to him:

“I have heard the prayer and plea you have made before me; I have consecrated this temple, which you have built, by putting my Name there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.

4 “As for you, if you walk before me faithfully with integrity of heart and uprightness, as David your father did, and do all I command and observe my decrees and laws, 5 I will establish your royal throne over Israel forever, as I promised David your father when I said, ‘You shall never fail to have a successor on the throne of Israel.’

6 “But if you[a] or your descendants turn away from me and do not observe the commands and decrees I have given you[b] and go off to serve other gods and worship them, 7 then I will cut off Israel from the land I have given them and will reject this temple I have consecrated for my Name. Israel will then become a byword and an object of ridicule among all peoples. 8 This temple will become a heap of rubble. All[c] who pass by will be appalled and will scoff and say, ‘Why has the Lord done such a thing to this land and to this temple?’ 9 People will answer, ‘Because they have forsaken the Lord their God, who brought their ancestors out of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, worshiping and serving them—that is why the Lord brought all this disaster on them.’”

The Promise is restated, along with the conditions for the Promise.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
Magnified and Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise,
For You Alone Are Holy and Righteous and Just.
Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent,
You Are The Eternal, Immortal, Creator of All Things!
And What You Have Created,
You Can Also Destroy.

To What a Horrible State Humans are capable of Falling,
when they Forget You!
How ugly and degraded,
when they worship their own flesh,
And elevate the Created Thing to godhood,
Rather Than Worshiping the ONE TRUE GOD.
Lord, let us not fall into that trap of the enemy.
Open pour eyes to the adversary's wiles and lies,
So that we do not fall into temptation.

We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According to Your Will and Promise.
We Pray For the People and Leaders of Israel,
that They Will Look to You for the Protection
and Prosperity of their Nation.
We Also Pray For Revival in our own Beloved USA.

We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

ML/LTOS

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

On another thread, I announced that my motorcycle was ready to be picked up at the shop today. I rejoiced, saying that "I couldn't wait to get back into the wind."

One of our beloved Prayer Warriors (YOU know who you are!) replied: "Go with it! You’ll be a better person after getting those cobwebs blown away!".

To which I answered: "Those ain’t cobwebs. They are grey hairs. LOL!"

Those of you who know me know that I am a Senior Citizen, a Widow, and avid Biker for 47 years. Oddly enough I ride more now than even when I lived in Florida, where it is Summer all year round. And I seem to enjoy it even more when I get stares on the highway, when the other drivers realize that I am in my "Golden Years".

The "Golden Age" is a cliche that is used by Historians, Senior Community Developers, Mythology Buffs, and Fantasy Novelists. It is meant to depict the high point of a Culture's Achievement, Prosperity, Ethical Development, Fine Art and Architecture, Religion, and Societal norms. The "Golden Age" is also characterized by less tangible qualities, such as Justice, Personal Freedoms, Liberty, and the Dignity of the Individual. No matter how awesome a culture's prosperity and power may be, if the people are oppressed into a collective hive of conformity, then it really can't be called a "Golden Age". When we refer to The "Golden Age of Ancient Greece" we emphasize the birth of a form of Democracy. We don't, however, refer to the "golden age of Germany" when we speak of the period immediately preceding WW2, even though that period showed prosperity, lots of building, and power.

Solomon's Reign can be called a "Golden Age", based upon what we are told in Scripture. The People of Israel enjoyed a great deal of prosperity, the Arts flourished, Beautiful Buildings were constructed, and, by all indications, the average person was free to own property and enjoy the fruits of their labors. God was blessing them, and Solomon was "in communication" with the Ruler of the Universe. There was rest from War, and the fame of Solomon's Reign went throughout the Civilized World.

But, Solomon was human, and therefore was not perfect. He collected horses (and wives as IF they were horses) which had been prohibited in Scripture. Although he was a religious man, he is not described as "A Man After God's Own Heart" the way his father David had been. And, as I remarked before, he used forced labor to do some of his construction work.

And yet, it was a "Golden Age"! Rulers will never be perfect human beings, and that's why we need to pray for them.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV)
