Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Old Testament)

1 Kings 8

The Ark Brought to the Temple

8 Then King Solomon summoned into his presence at Jerusalem the elders of Israel, all the heads of the tribes and the chiefs of the Israelite families, to bring up the ark of the Lord’s covenant from Zion, the City of David. 2 All the Israelites came together to King Solomon at the time of the festival in the month of Ethanim, the seventh month.

3 When all the elders of Israel had arrived, the priests took up the ark, 4 and they brought up the ark of the Lord and the tent of meeting and all the sacred furnishings in it. The priests and Levites carried them up, 5 and King Solomon and the entire assembly of Israel that had gathered about him were before the ark, sacrificing so many sheep and cattle that they could not be recorded or counted.

6 The priests then brought the ark of the Lord’s covenant to its place in the inner sanctuary of the temple, the Most Holy Place, and put it beneath the wings of the cherubim. 7 The cherubim spread their wings over the place of the ark and overshadowed the ark and its carrying poles. 8 These poles were so long that their ends could be seen from the Holy Place in front of the inner sanctuary, but not from outside the Holy Place; and they are still there today. 9 There was nothing in the ark except the two stone tablets that Moses had placed in it at Horeb, where the Lord made a covenant with the Israelites after they came out of Egypt.

10 When the priests withdrew from the Holy Place, the cloud filled the temple of the Lord. 11 And the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled his temple.

12 Then Solomon said, “The Lord has said that he would dwell in a dark cloud; 13 I have indeed built a magnificent temple for you, a place for you to dwell forever.”

14 While the whole assembly of Israel was standing there, the king turned around and blessed them. 15 Then he said:

“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, who with his own hand has fulfilled what he promised with his own mouth to my father David. For he said, 16 ‘Since the day I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city in any tribe of Israel to have a temple built so that my Name might be there, but I have chosen David to rule my people Israel.’

17 “My father David had it in his heart to build a temple for the Name of the Lord, the God of Israel. 18 But the Lord said to my father David, ‘You did well to have it in your heart to build a temple for my Name. 19 Nevertheless, you are not the one to build the temple, but your son, your own flesh and blood—he is the one who will build the temple for my Name.’

20 “The Lord has kept the promise he made: I have succeeded David my father and now I sit on the throne of Israel, just as the Lord promised, and I have built the temple for the Name of the Lord, the God of Israel. 21 I have provided a place there for the ark, in which is the covenant of the Lord that he made with our ancestors when he brought them out of Egypt.”

New International Version (NIV)(End of Scripture Passage)

While the Prayers of Solomon are much less documented than those of his father David, what we do have from him are quite heartfelt and beautiful.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God!
Sanctified and Holy is Your Most Hallowed Name.
How Excellent,
How Wonderful,
How Perfect You Are!
My Heart is Overwhelmed With Your Glory,
Your Magnificence,
and Your Power!
When I think of how Awesome You Are,
Of How You Transcend Time and Space,
Of How You Created Everything That Is and Ever Was,
Of How You Tell History From the Beginning to The End
and the End to The Beginning,
Of How You Give us a Glimpse into Your Infinite Mind
Through Your Holy and Unchanging Word,
How You Are Faithful To Your Promises Even When We Fall Away,
And How You Fulfill Every Jot and Tittle of Your Precepts,
When we ourselves fall so short of the target,
I just have to stop everything,
And say, "How Great and AWESOME YOU ARE!"

We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According to Your Will and Promise.
We Pray For the People and Leaders of Israel,
that They Will Look to You for the Protection
and Prosperity of their Nation.
We Also Pray For Revival in our own Beloved USA.

We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

ML/LTOS

Thank you ‘left that other site’. The Word of God brings life indeed! That ‘cutaway’ view of the temple is the best I’ve seen.

For any of you who feel a need to deepen your study of Scripture, check out torahclass.com

We will never get the full meaning of the New Testament, until we better understand the Torah. I’ve learned more with torahclass.com in 6 months, than I’ve learned in many years of other study.

May God draw us near to Him, that we may bless our neighbors, and pray for an American revival.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Many of the most magnificent structures of the Ancient World were not homes for the living, or even temples for the gods, but were Tombs for the Dead. The greatest of these, and the last standing of The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, is, of course, the Great Pyramid of Egypt. Other tombs and mausoleums from pagan times are unearthed with increasing frequency, due to the advancements in Archaeology and the use of ground-penetrating radar (LIDAR).

One of the rules of Archaeology is to document everything as it is found ("in situ" in Latin) before bringing it up for study. Some of the early explorers of the past had no such scruples. It is a good thing that "Treasure-Hunting" has been upgraded to "Scientific inquiry".

There is good news for lovers of Fine Art and Architecture. The Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, which was horribly devastated by fire, is going to be painstakingly restored to its original design by modern-day artisans. No glass roof, no minarets, no swimming pool, no "diversity symbols" or politically correct "renovations". Of course, the French government still hasn't discussed the hundreds of other vandalized churches in Paris, or how they may be related, but at least the beautiful Gothic Structure on the Ile de la Cite will retain its iconic beauty. Maybe I'm just a cranky old cynic, but I suspect that the decision was not one based on piety, but was reached with an eye towards the Tourist Dollar. At least that is how it looks to me.

Solomon was well aware that even the epitome of Art and Architecture is a mere shell without the Spirit of God. It is not until after his Prayer of Dedication that the Shekina Glory enters the Temple. Art and Architecture are beautiful, but it is still the work of mere humans. It is the Spirit of God that makes a place holy!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV)

God Bless America!

“A monumental joke.”

Indeed. But, unfortunately they are the legal owners of the property, according to the laws in France.

Oh Well....at least we won’t be seeing the rooftop swimming pool!

Thank God.
