Des Moines, Iowa, May 29, 2019 / 04:10 pm (CNA).- Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) has said that she disputes Church teaching on the priesthood, sexuality, and abortion.
The Democratic presidential candidate made the comments while discussing her own beliefs in an interview for Iowa Public Radio's NPR Politics Podcast on Wednesday.
Gillibrand was raised in the Church and said she still identifies as a Catholic, even though she attends religious services at non-Catholic churches. The senator said she disagrees with Catholic teaching on many things, listing abortion, LGBT issues, and the all-male priesthood as points of dissent.
I think [the Church] is wrong on those three issues, said Gilibrand. And I dont think theyre supported by the Gospel or the Bible in any way. I just--I dont see it, and I go to two Bible studies a week. I take my faith really seriously.
Gillibrand is an outspoken supporter of abortion rights and has a zero percent rating from the National Right to Life Committee on life issues.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church, in line with unchanging Church teaching, declares abortion to be a grave moral evil and the taking of an innocent human life.

SHE is WRONG!
Romans 1:18-32 isn’t wrong about people who champion such things.
I swear the Dems ought to replace the jackass as their party symbol, and replace it with a mangled fetus! These people are just plain sick!
If it were possible to go into negative numbers on polling she would do it.
Vacuous, derivative, cowardly.
The Gospel is not just keep on doing what you’re doing.
The gospel is believe in Jesus Chrit’s atoning death for your sins. And stop sinning.
Christ forgives a whole lot of sinners. But He also tells them to go on and sin no more. Meaning, actively stop your sinful habits. Start to hate your sin.
Kirsten is just another faux christian picking and choosing and making stuff up, only quoting a part of something and leaving out other parts that put it in proper context.
She is practicing al taqiyaa as a phony christian.
They’ll tie themselves up like a pretzel in order to justify their support for murdering babies in the womb, and out.
She goes to two bible studies a week? What bible is she studying?
First thing you must do before you can be forgiven by Jesus, is to renounce your former ways. You cannot stay married to a man as a homosexual man. You also cannot run around in Pride parades. A sinner that is proud of his sin, is not repentant.
As a Catholic, I’m happy to know that it sounds like the two Bible studies a week that she is attending aren;t Catholic—so definitely not caucus material and the Sola Scriptura crowd can take great pleasure in receiving credit for the great theological insights that she has obtained by partially turning her back on the Church. Kudos to you!
BTW—would you like a slightly used Pope to go with your Senator? He’d fit right in.
“For their women exchanged their natural function for an unnatural and abnormal one,
And the men also turned from natural relations with women and were set ablaze (burning out, consumed) with lust for one anothermen committing shameful acts with men and suffering in their own bodies and personalities the inevitable consequences and penalty of their wrong-doing and going astray, which was [their] fitting retribution.”
(New Testament, Romans 1: 26,27)
The Church has been right for two thousand years and Ms. Gillebrand for two weeks. Sorry KG, you just dont cut it.
Smarter than God, she thinks she is.
She is a fruitcake for sure.
Another liar that says she is a Christian but just loves killing babies.
“church is wrong on sin”
“also church is wrong on coveting other peoples’ wealth, stealing their property, doing thy neighbor’s spouse, etc.”
” [The wicked are sentenced to suffer] just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the adjacent townswhich likewise gave themselves over to impurity and indulged in unnatural vice and sensual perversityare laid out [in plain sight] as an exhibit of perpetual punishment [to warn] of everlasting fire.”
(New Testament, Book of Jude 1:7)
What does she think the Church is right about, and how did she decide?
SillyBrand is a joke.
