Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Old Testament)

1 Kings 3

A Wise Ruling

16 Now two prostitutes came to the king and stood before him. 17 One of them said, “Pardon me, my lord. This woman and I live in the same house, and I had a baby while she was there with me. 18 The third day after my child was born, this woman also had a baby. We were alone; there was no one in the house but the two of us.

19 “During the night this woman’s son died because she lay on him. 20 So she got up in the middle of the night and took my son from my side while I your servant was asleep. She put him by her breast and put her dead son by my breast. 21 The next morning, I got up to nurse my son—and he was dead! But when I looked at him closely in the morning light, I saw that it wasn’t the son I had borne.”

22 The other woman said, “No! The living one is my son; the dead one is yours.”

But the first one insisted, “No! The dead one is yours; the living one is mine.” And so they argued before the king.

23 The king said, “This one says, ‘My son is alive and your son is dead,’ while that one says, ‘No! Your son is dead and mine is alive.’”

24 Then the king said, “Bring me a sword.” So they brought a sword for the king. 25 He then gave an order: “Cut the living child in two and give half to one and half to the other.”

26 The woman whose son was alive was deeply moved out of love for her son and said to the king, “Please, my lord, give her the living baby! Don’t kill him!”

But the other said, “Neither I nor you shall have him. Cut him in two!”

27 Then the king gave his ruling: “Give the living baby to the first woman. Do not kill him; she is his mother.”

28 When all Israel heard the verdict the king had given, they held the king in awe, because they saw that he had wisdom from God to administer justice.

And How Righteous Are Your Precepts;
How True and Perfect Your Judgments!
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are Lord,
You Alone Are The One True God Of Abraham!
What can we do except gasp in Wonder at Your Holy Word,
As You Open Up Your Eternal and Wonderful Redemptive Love To Us?

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
For Israel,
and For The Jewish People.
We Thank You Profoundly For That Tiny Nation that sits at the Very Crossroads of History,
At the Nexus of Three Continents,
A Holy Witness to The Ultimate Truth of Your WORD!
For it is Not By Might,
Not By Power,
But By Your Spirit that the enemy will be overcome.

We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According to Your Will and Promise.
We Pray For the People and Leaders of Israel,
that They Will Look to You for the Protection
and Prosperity of their Nation.
We Also Pray For Revival in our own Beloved USA.



We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

I shared the following story once before, but it goes so well with today's Scripture!

When I was in High School, I briefly hung out with a boy whose mom was a Jazz Singer. She was also an "authentic" 1950's-style Beatnik. One "date" consisted of the mom taking the two of us into Chinatown to attend a Chinese Opera called "THE CHALK CIRCLE"

The three of us were the only people of the "Caucasian Persuasion" attending the Opera, so there were no translations, no subtitles, and no explanation for the action onstage. However, at one point, I recognized the action onstage as closely resembling a Bible Story my own Mom had told me many years earlier. I shared my "AHA Moment" with my date and his mom, and they both seemed offended that I was comparing this Awesome Eastern Work of Art to the Bible! (or maybe they were just mad that I "got it" and they did not.) Anyway, that was my last date with the guy and never heard from him or his mom ever again. Oh Well. It was 50 years ago!

Today's Scripture also brings to mind the current state of "Womens' Rights" in our beloved nation. The early "feminists" recognized that abortion was killing a human being. They saw that it was often forced upon women to cover up a man's exploitation of her, to prevent family problems for an adulterer, to cover up a rape, or to just avoid having another mouth to feed. The early feminists were so against this violence against woman that the most prominent Pro-Life Organization is named after one of them, Susan B. Anthony. The Suffragettes who modern-day feminists claim to idolize were Pro-Life!

Like this story, the two types of "feminists" appear before the Throne. Both claim to be in the right. Both claim the child is theirs to do what they want with him. But, when the sword is presented, the REAL mother would rather give up her child than have him murdered. The FAKE mother prefers that NOBODY have the child and wants him to be killed. One can only puzzle over the fake mother's reasoning at this point, because the REAL mother was ready to cede her claim upon the child. One can only surmise that, as the true love of the real mother shone through, it exposed the fake mother's evil, bitter, soul, and she wanted no part of motherhood or even decency.

If I can't have him, NOBODY can!" she seems to be saying.

And that same evil spirit seems to be stalking our Nation to this very day.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.

They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."
