Two of my kids graduated from Grove City College (one this past weekend). I have one more there. It is an excellent school that gives an incredible bang for the buck. It holds to a very steady Christian doctrine. More FREEPers need to know about this school.

...If you can find one not actively selling out to appease Non-Christians.

Very few Christian schools remain who have not begun to drink of political correctness and social justice.

Here’s what many people do not know -— Grove City College’s academics are EXCELLENT, comparing favorably to the Ivy League Schools.

Their jobs support program are second to none. During the peak of the great recession, over 96% of their graduates found jobs or went to graduate studies related to their field within 3 months of graduation.

And here’s the other thing -— Their tuition fees are REASONABLE, comparing favorably to state tuition fees.

Colorado Christian university. Also home of the western conservative union. I can’t say enough good things about them. Middle son who is now a called and ordained servant of the Word graduated from there.

Nice to know there are still such schools out there.
At least one more generation will have been properly influenced and prepared for the adult world.

My oldest daughter graduated from Thomas More College in Nashua NH. She got an old time classical Liberal Arts education that included philosophy, theology (it is a Catholic school), Greek and Latin, Western literature, History, etc. My MiL was upset because it was not a Name university and MiL was sure Beverly could never get into a good grad school from there. At LSU they, indeed, had never heard o Thomas Moore. The lady in the office made some phone calls to Nashua and did a bit of research and offered Beverly a scholarship to cover half her tuition. Beverly had already saved her first year’s tuition and expenses by taking off a year after TM to work in a Credit Union. LSU hired her on at the campus CU and gave her a reserved parking space. She ended her three years at LSU (MBA) with a solid bank account.

I agree. I sent my son to Pepperdine in Malibu. He found a wonderful Christian wife who has transformed him into an incredibly wonderful father and a man of integrity.

I’ve met some very impressive young people who attend Liberty recently. Based on how they present themselves that one would get my vote.

I hate that terminology, “send your kids to...”. I chose a college I could afford (nobody had to coax me to skip colleges I couldn’t afford) and payed my own way. If you’re actively controlling your kid at 17, treating him/her like a child, THAT is what will turn them into a liberal regardless of what college you “send” them to.

That’s not to say my parents didn’t help me out with advice, let me live at home, etc, obviously at that age guidance and assistance can still be beneficial. But active control won’t help at all, if your kid still needs it then you already failed him/her 6 years ago.

If not home-schooling — also send them to a Catholic or Christian elementary and high school.

Your point is well-taken where it applies in actuality to helicopter or smothering parents, but the comments here are using “send them off” as a figure of speech. For instance, a father doesn’t really “give” his daughter “away” at the altar when she gets married, but the ancient wording just hangs around and warms the hearts of all who know it’s just a nod to tradition.

And in the sense that a young person is no longer residing in the parents’ house, eating the food provided or using resources shared by the parents such as cable or utilities, the parents are indeed “sending them off.”

I thought we would be safe enough sending our daughter to one of the most conservative public universities out there. not really. She joined the college group at church and went on retreats, lectored at mass, etc. However, she is now a junior and is telling me she’s agnostic, wants to see what other religions are like, and thinks “love is love”. She still attends church with us on Sunday. At my request, she made a long list of all her spiritual questions, and we are going to work our way through them over the summer. When she entered college, she signed a contract with her father, obligating her to take care of her soul, as well as her grades, so she has to work with us on this. We’ll see how it goes.

There are conservative Christian schools getting corrupted by social justice. The Southern Baptist Coalition is one.
BAYLOR University in Texas just has a white man give a social justice prayer that condemned white men ... in the graduation prayer.

My daughter and, now, son-in-law went to Grove City College. Pence spoke at their commencement in 2017. There were some grumblings, because even kids from “good Christians universities” are exposed to liberal messaging, but they were in the minority and the administrators and faculty had no intention of capitulating. Pence was warmly received, and afterward many of the doubtful students admitted they were impressed with his speech and felt honored to shake the VP’s hand.

That’s how a university is supposed to work. For those who do not know, Grove City College takes no federal funds so that they can teach without governmental influence.
