Moscow, May 23, Interfax - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov at a meeting with the delegation of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America has called for preserving Christian communities' significant role in the Middle East countries.

Bogdanov received the delegation led by Archbishop of New York and Metropolitan of All North America Joseph on Wednesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"The Russian side reaffirmed its unwavering support to preserving Christian communities' tangible historical role in Middle Eastern societies based on the peaceful coexistence and fruitful cooperation with members of other religious groups," the statement said.

The interlocutors discussed the situation in Syria, Lebanon and in the Middle East as a whole, specifically "in the context of Russia's efforts to facilitate the Syrian settlement and stabilization of the general regional situation." "In this context, the parties discussed challenges faced by Middle Eastern Christians amid a surge of terrorism activity and extremist sentiments, external provoking of interreligious disagreements and the attempts to politicize them," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

This may be simply opportunistic and propagandistic, but then it begs the question... why does our government not speak up?

And to ask the question is to answer it. It seems we dare not.

I wish our government supported Christians as opportunistically.

The Russian Orthodox “Church” is not much more than a front for the KGB Putin regime.

“The Russian Orthodox “Church” is not much more than a front for the KGB Putin regime.”

That doesn’t matter, If they’re helping persecuted Christians in the Middle East

By intervening in Syria, Putin saved a lot of Christians from jihadi-driven genocide

Of course it matters. The Russians' move into Syria was solely to establish a foothold in the region. A base in the strategic, gas & oil-rich Middle East for continuing their expansionist agenda. We should have done more to help the good Syrians ourselves, thereby depriving the Russians the opportunity to intervene, which they did primarily for the sake of their own long-term expansionist goals. We can 100% blame the Obama admin for that.

It is also conceivable that they (the Russians) helped to ignite problems there, as they have historically been known to do, intentionally, via 'planted' operatives, in order to rationalize aggressive responses. It's quite possible that this is what they did in Russia, where evidence showed that at least some of the terrorist attacks there were probably staged.

The Russians moving into the Middle East would be similar to the Mafia moving into your neighborhood, chasing away the local bad guys, setting up shop themselves, and becoming an even greater problem to the community and to law enforcement in many ways. Once established there they will conduct their typical "businesses", make tons of money, grow even stronger, and start becoming a threat to the surrounding neighborhoods.

Syria’s Christians are thankful

Well, so would be the local citizens of the neighborhood in my analogy, where the mafia moves in, at least for a little while. However, because the police didn’t effectively remove the local bad guy problem themselves, the Mob was afforded the opportunity to come in, takeover, and pose more serious problems for that community, and ultimately other surrounding communities.
