Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Old Testament)

2 Samuel 23

David’s Last Words

23 These are the last words of David:

“The inspired utterance of David son of Jesse,
the utterance of the man exalted by the Most High,
the man anointed by the God of Jacob,
    the hero of Israel’s songs:

2 “The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me;
his word was on my tongue.
3 The God of Israel spoke,
the Rock of Israel said to me:
‘When one rules over people in righteousness,
when he rules in the fear of God,
4 he is like the light of morning at sunrise
    on a cloudless morning,
like the brightness after rain
that brings grass from the earth.’

5 “If my house were not right with God,
surely he would not have made with me an everlasting covenant,
    arranged and secured in every part;
surely he would not bring to fruition my salvation
and grant me my every desire.

6 But evil men are all to be cast aside like thorns,
which are not gathered with the hand.
7 Whoever touches thorns
    uses a tool of iron or the shaft of a spear;
they are burned up where they lie.”

(End of Scripture Passage)

These "Last Words" are not a deathbed utterance in the way we understand "last words". They are more like the final chapter of David's writings, inserted here after the mighty "Psalm 18" that we read yesterday. They may have been part of David's final instructions to Solomon.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
Magnified,
Sanctified,
and Hallowed Be Your Most Holy and Glorious Name!
You Are So Holy
and Worthy of Praise and Worship,
We are Overwhelmed by Your Glory!
It is You Who Have Made The Earth and All it Contains,
from the tiniest of Creatures,
to the Greatest of the Mountains,
Forests and Deserts.
It is You Who Command the Motion of the Stars,
The Galaxies,
and the Great Singularities of Time and Space,
And it is You Who Create new Life in the Secret Place of a Mother's Womb!
Oh, Father,
You Are So Wonderful,
So Glorious,
So Magnificent,
And Mere Words Don't even Tell The Story of Your Awesome Splendor!

We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According to Your Will and Promise.
We Pray For the People and Leaders of Israel,
that They Will Look to You for the Protection
and Prosperity of their Nation.
We Also Pray For Revival in our own Beloved USA.

We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Much literature, drama, and even dark comedy stems from our fascination with a person's "Last Words". Sometimes it's a confession, sometimes wise advice, sometimes a warning, and sometimes just nonsense from the brain's confusion.

There are, however, other kinds of "Last Words". These could be in the form of a farewell address, a list of instructions upon leaving a position, and even the famous "Parting Shot". General Douglas MacArthur, addressing a Joint Session of Congress, gave us a classic one of those with the "Old Soldiers just Fade Away" speech. Who can forget President Eisenhower's "Military-Industrial Complex" warning, or the Nixon "Checkers Speech"?

This beautiful poem of David, which is separate from the Psalms, is more like the latter rather than the Deathbed Confession. These words are a summation of David's "career", but it does not speak of his mighty exploits, his intense persecution from the "Establishment", his Victories and Triumphs, nor even of his sins and redemption.

According to these "last words", David's greatest glory was being used by the Holy Spirit to be a conduit for God's Word.

And THAT is awesome indeed.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV)

God Bless America!
