Last weekend, a large church in Chicago hosted an Arab-Israeli speaker who spoke on the topic of “Christ-centered reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians.”
Dr. Salim Munayer, executive director and founder of Musalaha Ministry of Reconciliation, an organization which has worked “to bring Israelis and Palestinians together since 1990.”
According to the church’s website, Munayer is a former academic dean at Bethlehem Bible College, an adjunct professor at Fuller Theological Seminary, and has published several books on reconciliation, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and Christians in Israel.
Munayer began his message by stating that “Ashkenazi Jews had replaced Palestinians” in his native town Lod, Israel, in 1948, and that his family took refuge in a church for fear of being massacred during the Israeli-Arab war that year.
While nobody wants to belittle the suffering that befell the innocent on both sides -- Israelis and Arabs -- saying that European Jews “replaced Palestinians,” reveals that Munayer has bought into the Palestinian narrative that was formed years later. I am referring to the Arab initiative that calls for an Arab Palestine "from the river to the sea," which delegitimizes the State of Israel and calls for its destruction.
Under the British mandate for Palestine, both Arabs and Jews were considered Palestinian. In November 29, 1947, the United Nations General Assembly declared the partition of Palestine into “an Arab State and a Jewish State,” with Jerusalem as an international zone. The Arabs rejected the United Nations partition plan and intermittent hostilities broke out between the Arab and Jewish residents of British Mandatory Palestine over the next seven months.

I’ve always found middle eastern Christians to be pretty anti-semitic myself...
RE: Ive always found middle eastern Christians to be pretty anti-semitic myself...
I’d like to know why....
Condering the behavior of Church leaders, I don’t think I would listen to them. One should look to the Bible for the answer to this question.
Gen. 12:3 “I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you...
Christians are given no choice...we must side with God and He sides with the Jew.
The organized chirch is too busy promoting homosexuality to care about Israel.
Because they mostly are.
See Sirhan Sirhan or Hanan Ashrawi and her father for examples.
Some ME Christians are antisemitic hoping their Muslim neighbors will leave them alone.
In my opinion, it’s because as Arabs and therefore descendants of Ishmael, that they are hardwired to hate the Jews.
I have tried to understand the basis for antisemitism. Now I realize it all comes from Islam. Jew haters should hang their heads in shame.
RE: See Sirhan Sirhan or Hanan Ashrawi
Hanan ashwari was born to Christian Palestinian Parents. So was Sirhan Sirhan.
Just because one has Christian Parentage does not make one a Christian.
If one reads everything that someone claiming to be Christian says, one would think that the term “Christian” could mean anything goes. The term “Christ follower” might be more accurate, at the moment anyway.
LET’s WRAP OURSELVES AROUND THIS:
IF THE PALESTINIANS LAID DOWN THEIR ARMS TODAY, THERE WOULD BE PEACE. IF THE ISRAELIS LAID DOWN THEIR ARMS TODAY, THERE WOULD BE GENOCIDE AND NO ISRAEL.
As far as I’m concerned the Mullahs opened the door to the Church taking a side on the matter with their daily attack on Israel and Jews.
You said it all
Correct the good book is the source of the answers
These church leaders and the giant edifaces that they inhabit have about as much to do with Jesus Christ as
a leaf on a tree
water in a stream
or snow falling from the sky
Most suppose the church leaders are merely about self aggrandizement
Christ clearly said make not the treasures of your heart in things of this world
How can we take counteance from someone who has accumulated millions of dollars for their self ?
Check this out. Mega churches seem to be losing touch with all Bible teaching.
“Rick Warren Builds a Jesus-less bridge to Muslims”
Generally Middle-Eastern Christians are anti-Israel because theologically their denominations adhere to forms of replacement theology or supersessionism which teaches that the Abrahamic covenant found in Gen 15 is no longer in effect and was abrogated thus Jews have no right to the land.
Also helps them curry favor or get less heat from their Muslim neighbors in a tribal shame honor environment in which Islam also theologically adheres to a replacement/ supersessionist belief system. Catholic and mainline Christian denominations hold predominantly to supersessionism. (This is maybe the biggest issue for the church today in prophetic endtimes as it effects ones entire outlook on almost all major Christian theological positions but particularly eschatology.
How about Greek Orthodox priests smuggling weapons for the PLO? Are they also not Christians?
Not always. Remember there was and is prejudice in both sides, with gentile shiksha etc used as insults. That doesn’t justify anti Semitism, buy it yells you he reason is far more complex. I’d suggest also reading about q long ago war the Bar Kochkba uprising un 196 ad when gentiles in Cyprus and cyrenica were slaughtered.
Again that’s not justification, but history showing prejudices on both sides.
That’s rot. Christian Arabs in general are ok with a live and let live situation. They want to live in their ancestral lands as well as and with the Jewish peoples. Muslims on the other hand do not want to share. Your turning away of Middle eastern Christians smacks of the same self righteousness which prompted france and England to fight alongside the Muslim Turks and prevent Russia returning Constantinople to Christendom
