A group of 19 Catholic priests and academics have urged bishops to denounce Pope Francis as a heretic, in the latest ultra-conservative broadside against the pontiff over a range of topics from communion for the divorced to religious diversity.
The most prominent of the group is Father Aidan Nichols, a 70-year-old British priest of the Dominican order who has written many books and is one of most recognized theologians in the English-speaking world. The others are less well known.
We take this measure as a last resort to respond to the accumulating harm caused by Pope Franciss words and actions over several years, which have given rise to one of the worst crises in the history of the Catholic Church, they said in a 20-page open letter.
The letter attacks Francis for allegedly softening the Churchs stance on a range of subjects. They say he has not been outspoken enough against abortion and has been too welcoming to homosexuals and too accommodating to Protestants and Muslims.
It was published on Tuesday by LifeSiteNews, a conservative Catholic website that often is a platform for attacks on the pope. Last year, it ran a document by the Vaticans former ambassador to Washington, Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, calling on the pope to resign.

Rome's own declarations have made it clear.
Can. 1404 The First See is judged by no one.

Of course, Reuters misrepresents the issues as if they only concern reformable church discipline rather than irreformable church doctrine. Glossing over a persons mortal sins that would impel him toward eternal damnation is not an act of mercy; it is a cruel lie.
By the way, what are your beliefs, exactly? I mean, aside from "the Catholics are wrong".
"The First See is judged by no one" means that there is no appeal (on earth) from a Papal decision. It does not mean that nobody else can have or express an opinion. It also doesn't mean that a Pope who is a contumacious heretic can't be removed from office, or, more accurately, that the church can't recognize that he has removed himself from office.
But the commie Pope IS a HERETIC.
The real Pope (Benedict) needs to give him the boot.
This can be done with any belief system.
There is another thread involving Mormonism. Many are pointing out the errors of that belief.
If we were to take your position then there could be no evaluation of another belief to determine accuracy or error.
I have found that Roman Catholics don't like it when they are confronted with the more extreme tenants of their denomination.
It stands to reason that we know more about it than you do, just as you know more about what you believe than we do.
No it doesn't. People can become very knowledgeable about other beliefs. It's called studying.
Besides, how many times have we seen in the various threads the bemoaning of the "poorly catechized" Roman Catholic?
I try to steer clear about characterizing others' beliefs for exactly that reason.

As noted from RC Canon lawyers, and shown to you....a pope cannot be removed by even the College of Cardinals.
A Roman Catholic is not even supposed to disagree with the pope. That's just how much power Roman Catholicism has given to the papacy.
You were incorrect about the Councils in a previous conversation so why should I take your word on this? Because you're a Roman Catholic?

You may want to read the entire article. It’s very interesting.
“tenants” are people who rent houses and apartments. “tenets” are principles of belief. Just sayin......
Where's the lie?
opps! thanks for the correction.
"Now when [the Pope] is explicitly a heretic, he falls ipso facto from his dignity and out of the Church, and the Church must either deprive him, or, as some say, declare him deprived, of his Apostolic See." St. Francis de Sales, The Catholic Controversy
I should believe you over St. Francis de Sales (a Doctor of the Church) ... why?
"A pope who is a manifest heretic by that fact ceases to be pope and head, just as he by that fact ceases to be a Christian and a member of the body of the Church; wherefore he can be judged and punished by the Church. St. Robert Bellarmine, On the Roman Pontiff
I should believe you over St. Robert Bellarmine, also a Doctor of the Church ... why?
Cardinal Raymond Burke made it clear in an interview with Catholic World Report (CWR) in December 2016 that if a pope were to formally profess heresy he would cease, by that act, to be the Pope.
I should believe you over Cardinal Burke, an eminent canon lawyer and the equivalent of a retired Chief Justice of the "Supreme Court" of the Vatican ... why?
canonist Franz Wernz in his Ius Canonicum: In sum, it needs to be said clearly that a [publicly] heretical Roman Pontiff loses his power upon the very fact.
I should believe you over Franz Wernz ... why?
People can become very knowledgeable about other beliefs. It's called studying.
And what, from orthodox Catholic sources, have you studied? I'll bet my lunch any day that you read exclusively anti-Catholic sources which cherry-pick quotes from Catholic documents to prove their bogus points.
Hey-hey, hey-ho, this anti-pope has GOT to GO !
The articles I cited were all Roman Catholic.

A very interesting article.
Hopefully it will happen. But not all of the Bishops will follow.
That, by definition is schism.
Which is where I’ve been telling you all this would end up.
I bet Frank B has to restrain himself from performing gay marriages. I hope he breaks down and does it so this thing can come to a head.
What moral or faith teachings has your pope changed to cause your charges of heresy? He’s only infallible on those teachings correct, so why the outcry?
