In case you've heard the term "Spy Wednesday" to describe the Wednesday of Holy Week and wondered what it meant.

There is a local church that displays an accurate replica of the 30 pieces of silver Judas was paid.
The dimes sitting on my dresser look more impressive.
To: Antoninus
Never heard the term but I enjoyed the accounting of such.

I'm guessing that a Tyrian silver shekel (the theorized silver piece which Judas received) was worth considerably more than a dime at the time. Even so, it does seem a ridiculously insignificant sum considering God Himself was being sold for that amount.

Don't feel bad. It's a relatively new term for me as well.

The nuns would tell us about Spy Wednesday in school. It scared me a little bit.
By the way, this is my first post, so hello!

I remember the term "Spy Wednesday" from when I was a kid but didn't know it was still used. (After all, they got rid of a lot of familiar names--Septuagesima, etc.)
How soon will the name be changed to Authorized Surveillance Wednesday? (Can't upset the snowflakes with the word "spy.")
To: Buckeye McFrog
Current spot price for silver is $15.08/t oz
thirty pieces of silver isn’t much.

In Exodus 21:32, 30 pieces of silver was the price of a slave. IOW you could free someone from bondage for that much.
