Washington D.C., Apr 8, 2019 / 04:00 pm (CNA).- Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg has criticized Vice President Mike Pence for his views on gay marriage, saying that his civil marriage to his same-sex partner has led him closer to God.
Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, contracted a civil marriage with his partner Chasten, in a June 2018 Episcopalian ceremony.
Before he became vice president, Pence was Indiana’s governor from 2013 until 2017. In that office, he supported an attempt to amend the state constitution to define marriage as between a man and a woman, and signed the 2015 Religious Freedom Restoration Act into law. The act was criticized by gay rights activists as permitting discrimination by religious organizations.
“My marriage to Chasten has made me a better man,” said Buttigieg, speaking April 7 at a fundraiser for the Victory Fund, an organization dedicated to electing homosexual political candidates.
“And yes, Mr. Vice President, it has moved me closer to God.”
Buttigieg said that he wishes “the Mike Pences of the world would understand” that he was born gay and that he cannot change this. “Your problem is not with me. Your quarrel, sir, is with my creator,” Buttigieg said.
Both Pence and Buttigieg are baptized Catholics, but neither attends Mass. Buttigieg describes himself as a devout Episcopalian. Pence attends an evangelical church and has described himself as an “evangelical Catholic.”

Buttigieg has seen fit to question the faith of Pence. Then its only fair to question him.
1) How old were you when you had you first homosexual experience and how old was your partner?
2) Have you ever had sex with underage boys?
Doubt any MSM “journalist” would ask him those questions but would love to see them posed and his answers.

All correct. And those are individual burdens. I am to give to the poor (and do). Voting for government welfare is cheap: giving other people’s money to the poor so I won’t have to!
We are to be good to immigrants. But ILLEGAL immigrants are breaking public law, just as bank robbers do. We separate children from criminals all the time.
Apart from openly deciding which sins he gets to excuse - and like all of us, he excuses the sin he likes to perform - Buttguy misses the entire point of the social part of the gospel. I am COMMANDED to be fair to my employees, to the poor, etc. ME. It isn’t about government doing poorly what I refuse to do myself.
And when I give to the poor, I distinguish between habitual drug users who cannot be helped until they stop abusing drugs, and someone who lost their job and needs help with this month’s mortgage. I distinguish between the poor who can be helped and those who have caused their own poverty - and who will continue to do so regardless of my giving. I distinguish between helping a wino buy booze and helping someone who wants to work and can’t find any.
That is part of WHY I support Trump. Instead of welfare, he’s helping private businesses create lots of jobs! That is VASTLY more moral than trapping them on welfare.

It’s typical of the left, they are always claiming their opinions are the “real” American or Christian values.
I first noticed this in a Jimmy Carter book (in the bookstore no way I would buy it) in which he said the true traditional American values were pro-abortion, anti-death penalty, gay marriage, illegal immigration, and on and on.
