I was shocked when a relative told me “Protestants do not like the Catholic Church”; AND, if you go back far enough on the history of Christianity, guess what? But we do reprove Catholicism here, mostly in response to incessant provocative threads as this one promoting another of distinctive unscriptural RC beliefs. doctrine ,

For distinctive Catholic teachings are not manifest in the only wholly inspired substantive authoritative record of what the NT church believed (including how they understood the OT and gospels), which is Scripture, especially Acts thru Revelation.

Thus Catholicism, Roman or Eastern Orthodox, cannot be the one true church but much a false church which has sadly become as the gates of Hell for multitudes. In contrast, the body of Christ, (Colossians 1:18) is the one true church to which He is married, (Ephesians 5:25) the "household of faith," (Galatians 6:10) for it uniquely only and always consists 100% of true believers, and which spiritual body of Christ is what the Spirit baptizes ever believer into, (1Co. 12:13) while organic fellowships in which they express their faith inevitably become admixtures of wheat and tares, with Catholicism and liberal Protestantism being mostly the latter.

The degree that a church retains and preaches the convicting gospel of grace, of salvation by grave thru heart-purifying, justifying faith, then they are part of the church which the Lord promised would overcome the gates of Hell, that being

No, we do not, as "we" would mean defending an amalgam of Unitarian/Scientology/Swedenborgian/Mormonic/Baptist/etc. tent called Protestantism. And in reality, the kind of believers you attack testify to being far more unified and conservative in basic beliefs than those whom Rome manifestly considers member in life and in death. Why would we want to leave our conservative fellowships and accept Teddy K. Catholics as brethren, as you must, since Rome does?

Otherwise, Catholicism itself exists as sects and informal schisms.

Wrong Again. Nowhere interpretive of Mt. 16:18 is Peter called or described as the Rock upon which the church was built. Instead, that the LORD Jesus is the Rock (“petra”) or "stone" (“lithos,” and which denotes a large rock in Mk. 16:4) upon which the church is built is one of the most abundantly confirmed doctrines in the Bible (petra: Rm. 9:33; 1Cor. 10:4; 1Pet. 2:8; cf. Lk. 6:48; 1Cor. 3:11; lithos: Mat. 21:42; Mk.12:10-11; Lk. 20:17-18; Act. 4:11; Rm. 9:33; Eph. 2:20; cf. Dt. 32:4, Is. 28:16) including by Peter himself. (1Pt. 2:4-8)
