I think thiat Mormon baptizing of the dead is a theological error. but not creepy. It shows good-will --- although fecklessly expressed --- and it does not change anyone by one iota. So there's actually no reason to object.
I dunno, but to find it "creepy"" might mean you're afraid it has some effect.

I think the dead can be OFFERED this gift; but there is no requirement that it be accepted.
I only know what I've read, but teppe can probably help us understand this a bit more, as he seems to have an open heart.
