Cd Müller Describes Critics of His Manifesto as ‘Political Strategists and Theological Ignoramuses’

The cardinal also said the motive for sexual abuse was not priestly celibacy but ‘unmastered sexual desire’

Cardinal Gerhard Müller has described critics of his ‘Manifesto of Faith’ – especially those who accuse him of trying to act as an “anti-Pope” – as “political strategists and theological ignoramuses”.

In an interview for Catholic World Report, Cardinal Müller said those critics clearly had not read his previous work in papal supremacy, adding: “The same people who were critical, even hostile, towards Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI, whom they denounced as traitors of the spirit of the [Second Vatican] Council, now invoke Pope Francis.”

Cardinal Müller published his manifesto last month because “many Christians are no longer even aware of the basic teachings of the Faith, so there is a growing danger of missing the path to eternal life.”

The document reaffirmed traditional Church teaching on issues such as Communion for the divorced and remarried and Communion for Protestants.

However, it drew sharp criticism from supporters of Pope Francis, including Cardinal Walter Kasper, who compared Müller to Martin Luther: “One who rightly advocates reforms in the Church, but wants to pursue these behind the Pope’s back and enforce them in opposition to him.”

However, Cardinal Müller has hit back in the interview with Catholic World Report, accusing critics of trying to use Pope Francis as a “vehicle for their leftist-liberal agenda to desacramentalize the Church”.

Agreed.Mueller started out as a company man, but that was ok under BXVI...and he stayed that way because he’s a loyal Catholic and just accepted Francis’ insults and evasions for the first years, even though Francis almost immediately began to demote him and finally moved him out of power altogether.

But I think Mueller is a man of faith, and suddenly, even though it goes against his German professorial nature, he’s decided he’s had it and it’s the truth or nothing. And Francis is not in favor of the truth, so this is a very bold move on his part.

I read a truly sad tweet from Fr. Ray Blake yesterday about an elderly woman parishioner of his who had died saying she no longer believed. Her sister said she also no longer believes, and that it was because of the “scandals.” But the thing with the scandals is that Francis has never said these priests or bishops or cardinals did anything wrong, he has one (with whom he lives at Santa Marta) on his retreat with him, he has protected innumerable others and brought them to Rome...so while he didn’t make these priests and bishops and cardinals commit sins and abuse people as they did, he sure doesn’t seem to be very bothered by it in practice.

And that was what was probably the last straw for this poor lady, for whom we should pray. God knows how to deal with that kind of denial, but I’m sure he won’t go easy on the people who were the cause of this blackness and despair in a humble soul (people including the current pope).

To start with, and in the first pages of his Manifesto, it states:

Here the Word of Scripture describes those who do not listen to the truth and who follow their own wishes, who flatter their ears because they cannot endure sound doctrine (cf. 2 Tim 4:3-4).

…it is understood that divorced and civilly remarried persons, whose sacramental marriage exists before God, as well as those Christians who are not in full communion with the Catholic Faith and the Church, … are not disposed to receive the Holy Eucharist fruitfully (CCC 1457), because it does not bring them to salvation.

So he is declaring that divorce, no matter what the reason, is a sin against God and that if either of the Catholics remarry to the “right” person, they should not receive communion because God will not recognize them.

It’s nice to see that Mr. Muller still remembers the concepts of apostasy and Antichrist. Unfortunately, few people in the world have contributed more to the great religious delusion currently underway than Muller himself. Unlike what the conservative Novus Ordo and even some semi-trad web sites will lead you to believe, Muller is by no means the orthodox Catholic he appears to be.

Muller lives and breathes the “New Theology” (Nouvelle Theologie) that emerged beginning in the 1930s creating a defensive stance towards non-Catholic faiths and was condemned by Pope Pius XII, and became the official theology of the Second Vatican Council. He endorses the liberation theology of Gustavo Gutierrez, and he is on record denying the dogmas of Transubstantiation, the Perpetual Virginity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Bodily Resurrection of Christ. So what Muellar is saying is against any Christian religion which is inconsistent with our Constitution and the way of life this country has chosen.

Muller has defended Francis’ Amoris Laetitia and, in October 2015, had himself put forward the idea that unrepentant adulterers could be admitted to Holy Communion “in extreme individual cases”. Since that was never defined, what is an extreme case of adultery look like and who determines it’s wiping off the books?

So he’s either a liar or a fool with an agenda that should not be accepted by this country or even his own church pratices.
