Like many Catholic faithful, some parishioners at Immaculate Conception Parish in Clarksville, Tennessee, have simply had enough.
Their parish pastor, Fr. Stephen Wolf, is openly “gay.” He just got his fifteen minutes of fame as one of the subjects presented in the recent New York Times piece on “gay” priests. And Wolf is using his position in his parish and the larger community to undermine the Church’s teaching on homosexuality.
Several parishioners tried to take appropriate action—they met with their pastor to dissuade him from this pathway. He was not dissuaded. So, they went to their bishop, Bishop J. Mark Spalding, of the Diocese of Nashville. To date, Spalding has not properly addressed this grave scandal and has effectively left deeply concerned parishioners to fend for themselves.
What’s the big fuss about Fr. Wolf? Maybe it’s his vanity-press booklet “Gay Respect in the Good News.” Maybe it’s his association with dissenting Catholic groups like New Ways Ministry, Fortunate Families, and Equally Blessed, or with other non-Catholic groups like “PFLAG” and the active LGBT agenda-pushers in the heart of the Bible Belt community of Clarksville. Maybe it’s the fact that, despite claiming to a parishioner that he thinks he was “born gay,” it wasn’t until he “discovered” he was “gay” at age 33 that Wolf decided to enter the seminary. Maybe it’s the fact that Wolf led a retreat for self-identifying “gay” clergy in 2017, ironically titled “Following Jesus in Holy Honesty."
But perhaps the biggest problem in all this is that he let his bishop (the late Bishop David Choby, who died in 2017) know he was “gay but celibate” more than a dozen years ago, and his bishop did nothing to properly address the admission.
Wolf says that in seminary he had effectively remained “in the closet” despite the astonishing......

The Catholic Church itself is a scandal in the Bible Belt.
Solution: Starve the beast, and expose it.
1. Stop tithing to the parish church, and find a new parish.
2. When the diocesan fund drives come around, put a note in the envelope/basket to the effect that they’ll not see one thin dime, not one red cent until the Diocese is purged, starting at the top.
3. Include a picture of a cancelled check to any of your other favorite charities (sensitive info redacted, natch), in the amount you would normally donate.
4. Twitter-spank them.

Forget the homosexual infested Church policing itself. Once a predatory homosexual priest commits a crime and molests an underage boy, the criminal homosexual must be prosecuted to the fullest extent by the civil authorities and then sued civilly by all aggrieved parties. Its the only effective way to rid the Church of criminal homosexual clergy. It must be done.
Owen Benjamin is 100% right. You think that “accepting” abhorrent behavior makes you seem tolerant in their eyes? Or that if you do accept abhorrent behavior it will be “live and let live” from then on? They are after you KIDS and they seek nothing less than the destruction of all Western values WTFU!

Even assuming (You can’t) that one could actually show that homosexuality was a practice that is not sinful, would not an openly homosexual RC priest have violated his vows just as completely as the heterosexual priest that kept a mistress?
I can’t see any possible way this guy should not be defrocked even if you are theologically liberal (heritical) RC.

In these passages, Jesus Christ instructs John of Patmos to address the Seven [Christian] Churches of Asia. ("Asia" at that time referred to the Province of Asia,also called "Asia Minor" and presently dba "Turkey.")
For the Church is Smyrna, he has encouraging words:
"I know your tribulation and poverty, but you are rich. I know the slander of those who claim to be Jews and are not, but rather are members of the assembly of Satan. Do not be afraid of anything that you are going to suffer. Indeed, the devil will throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will face an ordeal for ten days. Remain faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
For the Church in Philadelphia, he has this warning:
"I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars--I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you [i.e. loved the Church in Philadelphia]."
The interpretation of these passages is, of course, obscure, as is much of Revelation, a highly symbolic book. The phrase "synagogue of Satan" has been interpreted variously by individual commentators through the centuries, but the Church has not doctrinally defined what it means and has not "canonized" any of the various notions.
All we know from the passage itself is that they "claim to be Jews, but are not" and that they "slanderers" (of the Churches) and "liars".
Way to avoid the issue. Is that your "nya-nya" sore loser way of saying "you win?" Sure it is.
If the Catholic Church had never changed its doctrines on Biblical inerrancy and on creation, there would be no left/homosexual subversion of the Catholic Church today. But it's so important to you people to put daylight between yourselves and "inbred trailer trash" that you pretend this isn't true. How many of these heretical and homosexual priests you're having to deal with are literalist creationists? Would you be willing to return to the ancient historic teaching on these issues if it was guaranteed to end your heresy/homosexuality problem?

What’s the real scandal is that it takes hitting them in the pocketbook to effect change.
They should be doing it because it’s right and in obedience to the Holy Spirit who commands us to purge the evil from among us (the church).
Instead they do for money what they won’t do for God?

Not surprising. The appropriately-named Wolf gained infamy by putting a sign for one of the Democrat presidential candidates (I forget if it was Kerry or Obama) on the rectory lawn of his previous assignment.
People in Clarksville can drive to Nashville or to the Fathers of Mercy in Kentucky (and probably across the border to Hopkinsville, although I can't testify to that plan myself) and get solid Catholic teaching and reverent Masses.
They should just absent themselves from IC in Clarksville until Wolf is removed. (And don't bother going through Kibby to get to the bishop; Kibby is part of the problem as much as Wolf is.)
There is precedent. There was a bishop in the ancient church who was a heretic. The people in his diocese didn't defect from the faith (what, treat heresy by embracing a different heresy?), but they avoided supporting the bishop and avoided the bishop himself, to the point of leaving the public bath when he showed up. He eventually got the message.
Homosexuality, in and of itself is not sinful....a person can be homosexual and celibate just as he can be heterosexual and celibate.....either is acceptable. It is the homosexual activity that is considered sinful and that’s where a LOT of the sexual scandal in the church took place.
But the former is disordered, the latter not so.
