God's Prescription For Life And Health
03-09-19 | Frank Broom

When you go to the doctor and they give you a prescription, you go to the CVS or wherever, stand in line, wait for it, give them your money, and take it just as it says on the label. And why do you do all that because of what a man said. Well, God is a physician one of his covenant names is Jehovah Rapha-The Lord our healer. And He has given you a prescription in Proverbs 4:20-23. It says, My son attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Notice he said God's word is life and health to all their flesh. Let's look at the words life and health- life is translated as 1. to revive 2. to nourish up 3. restore to life. And you see that in the life of Abraham and Sarah. His body was dead and her womb was dead (Romans 4:19). But, God promised him that he and his wife would have a son. So, what did God do He changed their names to match his promise; Abraham means-father of a multitude and Sarah means-princess of nations. Why did God do that, because that's the prescription for life. They would hear that word when their names were called (ears). They would see that word when they wrote their names (eyes). They would keep it in their mouth when they told someone their names (mouth). And by that they would keep that word in the midst of their heart.

And God says if you want to prosper the word has to stay in your mouth (Joshua 1:8). The word will impart life to your spirit and your spirit will impart that life to your flesh. Your flesh has no life of itself your spirit imparts life to it. Proverbs 14:30 says, a sound heart(spirit) is the life of the flesh. What you allow into your spirit is important because your spirit has the ability to impart life or death to your flesh. That's why Proverbs 18:14 says, the spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity. You see that was God's way of having them follow Proverbs 4:20-23. And by that his body came alive and her womb came alive because they did have a son. The word works. But, the word is not only life, but health.

And the word health is translated as medicine, remedy, healing, and cure. Did you get that? The word is healing to your flesh. How is that somebody might ask, well let me explain- 1. The word is seed and every seed has it's fruit. 2. The heart of man or spirit of man is ground. 3. And by constantly taking in the word in you water the seed. 4. And the water of the word makes the ground bring forth (Mark 4:14,15; 1Cor. 3:6,7; Isa. 55:10,11).

Nobody has a problem understanding if I plant rose seed in the ground and water them at some point I will see roses. And that's the same principle God has outlined in Proverbs 4:20-23. The word is seed and the fruit of that seed is healing. And the seed of the word planted and watered will produce. I've heard testimonies of people that has followed that and been healed and I myself have followed that and been healed. And in Acts 14:7-10 it tells you of a man that was lame, but he heard Paul preach and when the word got in him Paul perceived he had faith to be healed and he said, "Stand up on thy feet" and he stood up. The word always works.

God never promises that to us in Scripture.

This is all man's reasoning and what it called the prosperity gospel and cannot be supported from Scripture.

The attempt at rationalizing it is a pathetic give away and it's MAN's thinking, not God's.

And this is what the Holy Spirit says about preaching a different gospel.

Galatians 1:8-9 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.

Those who hold to a different gospel than what Paul preached have put themselves under a curse.

If your formula worked, then it would work all the time for everyone. And it doesn't, as evidenced by all the people for whom your claims don't work.

And then comes the blame game, blaming the sick person for their being sick. They just aren't doing it *right*. They don't have enough faith, Yada, yada, yada.....

God is not a formula to be used and manipulated according to our wishes.

I know from experience that my body and mind are healthier when I follow the Word of God than when I disobey.

In fact, I would go so far as to say that disobedience can and will most certainly lead to a state of lesser health.

As a major example, worry alone can cause all kinds of problems that start to heal when one places his faith in the Lord and turns his problems over accordingly.

God doesn't tell us to abandon reason. All we know of Him is that He wants us to use our minds to understand Him and His ways.

If He didn't want us to reason and think, he would have created robots instead.

In all due respect, your comment reeks of legalism.

God is not a spiritual vending machine that dispenses packets of blessing that we pick and choose what we want.

Obeying God is not legalism. It’s walking in the Spirit, and I don’t see anywhere in Scripture where God will bless a life of sin.

But this prosperity gospel garbage is man’s invention.

Go over to some third world hell hole country and preach it there. Go to Iran, NK, India, any muslim country where people are being beaten and tortured, and thrown in jail for their faith. Where they can’t find work casue they are Chrisitans and their property is being confiscated.

Go tell them these techniques to health, wealth and prosperity and see what they have to say.

It’s easy to preach prosperity in a free country like the US where we already are prosperous beyond what most of the world can imagine. It feeds the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.

And it also lies to people, promising them things on God’s behald that HE never promised them.

I guess someone forgot to inform Paul about the prosperity gospel as he went about preaching the gospel.

And the accusatiion of *legalism* is the same old fall back position of anyone who cannot defend their position from Scripture. Happens all the time. You’re a legalist.*, *You’re a pharisee. *

What a bunch of nonsense. It’s just changing the topic and accusing the person who’s exposing the lieof the prosperity gospel.

No, defend the prosperity gospel from Scripture without rationalization.

It can’t be done. 2 Timothy 3:12 tells us that all who desire to live godly lives will be persecuted. And Scripture tells us that friendship with the world is emnity against God.

If you’re living the fat, dumb, and happy Christian life, you’re doing something wrong.

Non Christians will benefit from not worrying and they don't even have to accept Christ to attain that.

Your argument here does not support the claims of the false, so called prosperity gospel.

To whom do non-Christians turn their worries over to?

Trusting in God is the only real solution to worrying. Shocking that you don't know that.

Explain Bob Celeste’s passing then.

Plant based diet. The Seventh Day Adventist study is one of several that show that a whole food plant based diet has some powerful health benefits. Much lower rates of cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Then tell me why people are not healed.

There is evil in this world. We all face challenges and sometimes those challenges are illness.

I can't know why some folks are ill and others may not be. Or why some folks experience healing and others do not. That's above my pay grade.

But this I know.

Take 2 people who are sick. One of them has not (yet) turned his life over to the Lord and one has.

You can be sure that the one who has strong faith in the Lord is facing his illness with God at his side. Whatever may happen, he is not defeated because his spirit is strong (victorious) in the Lord.

Like most of us, I have gone through periods of intense pain. But because of my faith in the Lord (which I believe must be a gift from Him), that pain seems to have worked for my good (it certainly builds character and wisdom).

On the other hand, my heart goes out to the person who is not filled with the Holy Spirit and who believes he/she is fighting his/her battle with illness alone. I will add that I believe the Lord is with that person as well...beckoning him/her to come to Him.

When I am sick or having a tough time, here is what I remember:

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)
As to the question of why we do not today see the kind of healing that was experienced during the times of the Apostles, I don't know. But, despite many rough times (of which I have NO complaints), I have clearly seen a lot of healing in my own life.

This is also what the Holy Spirit says, Is any sick among you let him call for the elders of the church and let them anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord and the prayer of FAITH will save the sick and the Lord will raise him up James 5:14,15. Now, that is the gospel are you telling me that because somebody died that makes that scripture not true. You have to be careful not to let circumstances dictate what you believe, but scripture only. Look at Jesus when he walked the earth did he turn anyone away when they came to him for healing, no. Acts 10:38 says he was anointed to heal and healed all that came to him. Psalm 103:3 says healing is a benefit of God. Jesus told his disciples to heal the sick. In fact Jesus said that believers would lay hands on the sick and they would recover. Seems to me God is all about healing why are you so against it. If God doesn’t want people healed why did he say his word is medicine to all our flesh. Because someone died does not change the word. Why they died is between them and God. But, what I do know is God can’t lie and his word is true regardless of what happens.
