Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Old Testament)
1 Samuel 10
10 Then Samuel took a flask of olive oil and poured it on Sauls head and kissed him, saying, Has not the Lord anointed you ruler over his inheritance?[a] 2 When you leave me today, you will meet two men near Rachels tomb, at Zelzah on the border of Benjamin. They will say to you, The donkeys you set out to look for have been found. And now your father has stopped thinking about them and is worried about you. He is asking, What shall I do about my son?
3 Then you will go on from there until you reach the great tree of Tabor. Three men going up to worship God at Bethel will meet you there. One will be carrying three young goats, another three loaves of bread, and another a skin of wine. 4 They will greet you and offer you two loaves of bread, which you will accept from them.
5 After that you will go to Gibeah of God, where there is a Philistine outpost. As you approach the town, you will meet a procession of prophets coming down from the high place with lyres, timbrels, pipes and harps being played before them, and they will be prophesying. 6 The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person. 7 Once these signs are fulfilled, do whatever your hand finds to do, for God is with you.
8 Go down ahead of me to Gilgal. I will surely come down to you to sacrifice burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, but you must wait seven days until I come to you and tell you what you are to do.
(End of Scripture Passage)
Saul will learn that being a king is not the same as being a priest of God. Although he will usually respect Samuel as the one with those duties, he will cross the line with disastrous results.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God,
How Wonderful,
How Excellent,
How Glorious is Your Most Holy Name!
How True is Your Word, and How Mighty!
How Glorious, to Span the Millennia,
To be Unfettered by Time and Space, To Know The End from the Beginning
and the Beginning from The End!
Because, Indeed, You ARE The Beginning and the End of All Things!
For it is You, Oh LORD,
Who designed the Galaxies with Your Compass,
And Mapped Out the Vast Reaches of Space With Your Word
and Your Omniscient Imagination!
Scientists tell us even the heavens are finite.
But YOU are Infinite!
Fancy Ceremonies and Florid Speeches do not impress You,
For Your Have Told us You desire Obedience, not Sacrifice,
And without Faith, it is Impossible to please You.
LORD, remind us ALWAYS to Worship You,
and not Your Creation.
Although it is a Huge temptation,
As Your Works are so Wonderful!
Let us always remember,
Your creation is there but to proclaim YOUR GLORY.
Hallelujah and Amen.
We pray for those impacted by the deadly tornadoes in our land. Please help them, Lord.
We Pray For The Leaders of Our Nation,
May They Be Inspired and Led By You,
And Please Guide Them in All Things.
We Pray for The Peace of Jerusalem, and For Revival in Our Own Land.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM! And for the Preservation of the Valiant Israeli Nation!

"Saul Prophesies with the Prophets" James J.J. Tissot (1836-1902)

it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.
And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon |
him, and he prophesied among them. And it came to pass, when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What is this that is come unto the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?
And one of the same place answered and said, But who is their father? Therefore it became a proverb, Is Saul also among the prophets?
And when he had made an end of prophesying, he came to the high place.
And Saul's uncle said unto him and to his servant, Whither went ye? And he said, To seek the asses: and when we saw that they were no where, we came to Samuel.
And Saul's uncle said, Tell me, I pray thee, what Samuel said unto you.
And Saul said unto his uncle, He told us plainly that the asses were found. But of the matter of the kingdom, whereof Samuel spake, he told him not.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The man was brilliant. He had a number of degrees and had them on his wall, and was a practicing lawyer with a huge clientele.
He was also wealthy. He lived in a gated cul-de-sac WITHIN a gated community in one of the richest towns in South Florida.
He was religious. He had been to the Holy Land many times and studied under some of the most celebrated Rabbis in great centers of learning.
He was compassionate. He had adopted two underprivileged children from overseas, and one of them suffered from autism.
And, he was handsome. Tall, dark, with imposing chiseled features, he must have made quite an impression in the courtroom.
Anyway, I had just finished the children's music lesson, when I got into a conversation with him about Israel. I happened to mention that I had visited Rachel's Tomb in Bethlehem. He immediately took umbrage and actually SCOLDED me in a "Summation to the Jury" kind of voice, and intoned:
"Rachel's Tomb is NOT in Bethlehem! It's in Safed! I KNOW because I have been there when I studied with the Great Rebbe! YOU'RE WRONG!"
I shrugged "whatever" because I didn't know what to say. I didn't oppose him because maybe he knew something I didn't. But I was SURE Rachel's Tomb was in Bethlehem. It just wasn't worth arguing about.
Later that week, I got an e-mail from the agency. I had been fired from teaching this man's children. Was he testing me to see if I would fight for what I believed was true? Was he ashamed because he consulted his Rabbi and realized I was right? Was it my breath? LOL. I'll never know. But I was somewhat relieved as the children had been somewhat difficult. The agency said that they had nobody else to send because, as far as "special-needs" kids were concerned, I was the one they recommended.
Sad story all around. It was a long time ago but the reference to "Rachel's Tomb" brought the story back to me.
Saul was kind of like that guy. Tall, Dark, Handsome, Religious, Powerful, and somewhat Arrogant, he would seem to be the perfect type of man to be a King. But sometimes he was SO sure he was right when he wasn't. And that was when he would do things outside of the will of God. Scripture TELLS us that Rachel's Tomb is in Bethlehem. Since it is on the West Bank, it is guarded 24/7 by the IDF against vandals. I know. Not only have I been there, I read the Bible! There may be a shrine to Rachel in Safed, but that is not her tomb.
When Saul obeyed God and His Word, he was successful. But when he did his own thing, he met with disaster. As this Book unfolds, we will see this more and more.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Sometimes, even when one knows the truth (lower-case “t”) it is best to remain silent and avoid an acrimonious debate.
However, when the Truth (upper-case “T”) is involved, it is sometimes necessary to risk conflict and speak up.
The wisdom comes in knowing the difference. :-)
Thank you for your words of blessing.
