Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem






(Old Testament)

1 Samuel 7





1 So the men of Kiriath Jearim came and took up the ark of the Lord. They brought it to Abinadab’s house on the hill and consecrated Eleazar his son to guard the ark of the Lord. 2 The ark remained at Kiriath Jearim a long time—twenty years in all.

The Ark is back in Israelite hands, and is being kept safe under the watchful eye of a properly consecrated guardian.

Oh LORD Our God
How Excellent is Your Name Over All The Earth!
You Alone Are Worthy To Be Praised,
For You Alone Are The One True God Of Abraham!
Holy, Holy , Holy, Are You,
LORD God of Power And Might,
Omnipotent,
Omniscient,
and Omnipresent,
And Yet, You Are "The God Who Sees" even the smallest personal thing in our lives.

Abba Father,
We Thank You For Your WORD and Your Promise!
Yet how often do we ourselves forget Your Promise,
or just plain DO NOT BELIEVE,
and try to find our own solutions,
or sidetrack Your Word.
Keep us focused and true to your Word, Dear Lord,
And not be tempted to "make stuff up" to "please" You.


We Pray For The Leaders of Our Nation,
May They Be Inspired and Led By You,
And Please Guide Them in All Things.

We Pray for The Peace of Jerusalem, and For Revival in Our Own Land.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem






In my search for graphics to accompany this thread, I came across MANY of Samuel as a little boy. These images are charming and a delight to post. Then, the other extreme is Samuel as an elderly Prophet with a long white beard. This image can be traced to very early Greek iconography, through the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and finally to my search engine. There are no images that I could find of Samuel as a strong, healthy youth, and yet, the Bible places him in ministry when he would have been in his late twenties. In this little Passage we see the Ark of the Covenant placed into the care of Abinidab...in his HOUSE! While it does not say whether Abinidab lived in a palatial home or a one-room-hut, it DOES say that Abinidab trained and consecrated his son Eliazar to watch over the Ark. Presumably, the Ark was covered up in cloths, furs, and leather mats as prescribed in the Torah (in a number of passages). The Ark stayed there for twenty years.

Scripture does not tell us what happened to Samuel during these twenty years. After the death of Eli and his family, did Samuel just grow up in the Tent of meeting with no Ark of The Covenant, no teacher, no mentor? Did he go back to his family? Did he study by himself or with a new appointee at the Temple? The Bible does not say, so perhaps we are not meant to know. What we do know is that Samuel emerges from obscurity in the very next chapter, and is already a respected religious and political leader.

This brings to mind the "Infancy Narratives" of the Child Jesus. Like Samuel, Jesus was a "Miracle Baby". Samuel was born of an infertile woman, and Jesus was born of a Virgin. Both were First-Born-Sons, and both were Dedicated to God. Both were born during times of political upheaval and strife. And, both have very little written about their childhood and maturing years. Except for the incident in the Temple when Jesus was 12 (recorded in Luke) we know nothing about Jesus's teenage years. Some legends and stories give us clues, but they are just that: Legends and Stories. Anyway, a lot can happen in twenty years, and we will explore the result tomorrow!

They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."

Amen to your prayer. And as always, there is a tidbit that I take away that encourages me as we pray for the Peace of Jerusalem, and God promises there is blessings in doing so, for we see the heart of God. The tidbit for me today is the realization that God is working in the life of a loved one no matter the distance and no matter the unknown because of separation. Continuing to pray for my grandson.
