I could have just as easily been a Presbyterian, or Lutheran, or First Christian... or, even a member of any number of non-denominational churches. My spiritual relationship is with Jesus, not with any Methodist bishop.
That said, there are things my church could do that would move me to STOP attending: Sanctioning gay marriage is one. Two people of the same sex living together is NOT "marriage". The government can sanction it, if they want, for secular reasons... but, it's not a marriage that is sanctioned by God.
When we allowed liberals to force this issue on the general public, without any distinction in the name; ie, "Marriage" vs "Union", we created a HUGE problem for churches across the country. I don't know where this is all headed. I'm not sure I really care. I can find churches near me that preach the gospel. And, they don't have bloated governances that do nothing but waste money and create stress.
Don't know where you live, but here's a start: the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS). Intelligent, reverent, scripturally-based, founded in the apostolic faith. (NOT the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America - ELCA.) Adjust the link to your zip code:
