Chinese believers are finding that their travel is being monitored or prohibited. They fear social credit system and growing pressure on family members.
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities have been registering the personal information of religious believers on a comprehensive scale. The data collection is nationwide, centralized into a unified database, and associated with a similar collection of data on religious venues. Religious and human rights advocates are concerned that this information will be integrated into Chinas so-called social credit system, and could be used as a powerful weapon against believers.
In 2014, the State Council promulgated a Planning Outline for the Construction of a Social Credit System (2014 to 2020), with pilot trials set up in various regions. The goal is that the system will be fully implemented in 2020. Reportedly, all daily activities will be factors in determining ones credit score. Points will be deducted for pestering the government or enterprises; for defaming others online; or for making or selling counterfeit goods. This score will determine whether one can travel out of town; whether one can be promoted at work; whether one can buy a car or property; and even what kind of school ones children can attend.
The authorities claim the social credit system will create a culture of integrity and increase the level of credibility of the entire society. Some believe, however, that it is another tool for those in power to monitor citizens and violate human rights.
According to Guangming Daily, a national Chinese newspaper, since the social credit system pilots began, 7.33 million people have been restricted from buying plane tickets due to losing credit; 2.76 million people have been restricted from buying high-speed rail tickets.

Another reminder that, in spite of China’s free market reforms in recent years, that it is still a totalitarian dictatorship.
I font know why anyone would want to visit China when they treat their people so horribly.
Just humanistic, murderous, left-wing, totalitarians, doing what humanistic, murderous, left-wing, totalitarians, have always done, and will always do.
Now, all they need to figure out, is how to eliminate that pesky parliamentary government in DC, so they can have it on a global scale.
I live in a town which has an international flight safety school. There are 5 young Chinese pilots in training that come to my church every Sunday. The church is Anglican and they say it is like the church they attend at home. Three are baptized and take communion. The others go up for a blessing. One of the young men bought the priest a red stole with Chinese writing on it, which he wore.
I am completely fascinated by this whole thing and wonder what their future is when they return to China.
The UN has a plan and a timeline.
Democrats have the same limtus test for judicial nominees. If you’ve been to church in the past 10 years, “the dogma” still lives within you and thus you are unfit for federal office.
I pray another Tiananmen Square is coming for China down the road, with a better result this time. Imagine if only we had the Internet back in 1989.
Revelation 13:16-18 New International Version (NIV)
16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.
Jeez, the Chinese are Johnie-come-latelies; Google, Facebook and Twitter are way ahead of the Chinese on setting up Social Credit Systems.
Way ahead and these three organizations are definitely using their SCSes.
This is “Nudge” by Cass Sustein on steroids. Enabled by the FICO system plus player tracking management systems from US gaming companies.
We built the platform on which this is based. It could be implemented anywhere.
I’ve been hearing about this.
A missionary report given at our church indicates increased persecution of Christians in China right now. Not able to meet at places they once were, having to arrive and leave in staggered bunches so as to not arouse the suspicion of authorities, etc.
They need prayer.
If today’s democratic party had their way this would be happening in America.
In the Soviet Union one needed ‘papers’ to travel outside of the local area. The lovely Socialist Republic did not issue ‘papers’ to a large percentage of the populace, thereby controlling most everyone. If one were awarded what amounts to an internal passport, and one did or said something the lovely Socialists did not like, one’s passport, ‘papers’ were revoked. Many prominent democRATS have often expressed their admiration for the former USSR, and the Chicoms. What a Surprise.
