In Gen. 2.16, God said to man, Every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you.
My Gen. 2:16 doesn't have that. perhaps you mean Gen. 9:3,4? The context is this. This was after the flood and there was no green life on the face of the earth. Here God, for the first time recorded, gave man permission to eat animals. What is not recorded is the distinction between clean and unclean animals but Noah already knew this, didn't he? of course because of the command to bring more clean animals in the ark than unclean (Gen. 7:2). And by the fact he only sacrificed clean animals as a sacrifice to God in his burnt offerring (Gen. 8:20)
