It was from the very beginning of his "reign". He'd say or issue a confusing statement, and the LSM would spin it pro-liberal, anti-traditional.
The Vatican would not issue clarifications or corrections, unless it found some outlet praising a pro-traditionalist aspect.
Maybe he’s trying to appeal to the lost, so they can hear the truth. Maybe.
