Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The Acts of the Apostles




(New Testament)

Acts 8

 8 And Saul approved of their killing him.

The Church Persecuted and Scattered

On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. 2 Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him. 3 But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off both men and women and put them in prison.

Chapter headings and Verse Numbers were non-existent in the original texts, but they are very convenient for looking things up. Sometimes, the breaks and headings can be awkwardly placed, breaking up the narrative. Today's first verse in Chapter 8 probably should have been at the end of Chapter 7. But, that being said, it is striking here as it stands alone.

Almighty God,
Everlasting Father,
Hallowed be Your Name!
You are Wonderful! Our Counselor,
Holy, Righteous and Just,
And Glorious in Majesty!
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship
For Your Alone Are The One True God.
Perfect in All Your Ways

LORD, We ask that You fill the leaders of the USA with Your Spirit,
that they may make Holy and Righteous decisions.
Comfort and heal those who have been touched by Violence,
And please expose and correct those who use tragedy
to further their own political agenda.
Bring the Truth To Light, Abba Father,
And expose all the Liars!

We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According to Your Will and Promise.
We Pray For the People and Leaders of Israel,
that They Will Look to You for the Protection
and Prosperity of their Nation.
We Also Pray For Revival in our own Beloved USA.



We Pray For The Leaders of Our Nation,
May They Be Inspired and Led By You,
And Please Guide Them in All Things.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

So much is said in this short little bit from the Book of Acts. From passively holding coats for murderers, Saul slips gleefully into the active persecution and murder of the new sect, who are not even called "Christians" yet (that happens later). Saul is so obsessed with this persecution that he even obtains writs from the Religious Rulers to go to foreign cities and round up the Believers there! So he goes from "Approval" to actual "Action" in what seems to be a mere catching of nreath between sentences here in the Text. What a Lesson!
