Theres nothing he can do.
Massacres like the one that unfolded at a Pittsburgh synagogue have little to do with lax gun laws and are even tougher when you're the President of the United States and you have to watch this kind of a thing happen, President Trump said Saturday afternoon.
Trump painted himself as a helpless observer unable to prevent such tragedies, despite being the leader of the free world.
For me, as President, to watch any of this go, you know, before I ran for office, I'd watch incidents like this with churches and other things and think, what a shame, what a shame, he said. But it's even tougher when you're the President of the United States and you have to watch this kind of a thing happen. It is so sad to see.
Instead of strengthening gun laws, the commander-in-chief suggested the U.S. should stiffen up our laws in terms of the death penalty and advised houses of worship to hire armed protection.
This has little to do with (gun laws) if you take a look," Trump said. If they'd had protection inside, the result would have been a lot better.
Maybe it could have been a very much different situation, he added.
At least 11 people were killed and six injured including four police officers when suspected gunman Robert Bowers opened fire on dozens of congregants inside the Tree of Life synagogue.
Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a prominent gun reform advocacy group, countered Trump sentiment on Saturday.
Americans should be able to worship in peace, without the threat of being gunned down, the group tweeted.
Trump later addressing the Future Farmers of America convention in Indianapolis called the attack a wicked act of mass murder that is pure evil, hard to believe and frankly something that is unimaginable.
He added that anti-Semitism must be confronted anywhere and everywhere it appears
The Presidents initial comments Saturday closely echoed the National Rifle Associations usual talking points in the wake of such shootings.
The nations largest gun lobbying group often repeats the claim that a good guy with a gun is the only way to deter attacks on at public spaces such as malls, schools, houses of worship and elsewhere.
They had a maniac walk in and they didn't have any protection and that is just so sad to see," Trump said. "The results could have been much better.
The President also reiterated his long-held belief in capital punishment.
When people do this, they should get the death penalty and shouldnt have to wait years and years, he said before departing for the Future Farmers of America convention and a political rally in Murphysboro, Ill.
Now the lawyers will get involved, and everybodys going to get involved, and well be 10 years down the line. I think they should stiffen up laws, and I think they should very much bring the death penalty into vogue, he said.
In 1989, two weeks after a female jogger was raped, beaten and left for dead in Central Park, Trump paid $85,000 to place a series of ads calling for the state to Bring Back The Death Penalty! Bring Back Our Police.
The ads ran in New York newspapers after five teens, later exonerated by DNA evidence, were arrested and charged with the crime
Make sure the Gunman dies in the attack ,no prisoners
And he is right. The left first declared war on God; and openly scorned him at the DNC conference.
Then the left turned their hatred on the Bitter clingers, holding their bibles in one hand and a gun in the other. How many church shootings have their been? This is simply the first Synagogue.
And sadly it will not be the last. If you have a CCW, carry everywhere. If you dont have a CCW, apply for one.
“Dead men tell no tales” was as correct the first time it was said as it is today.
There are big, burly, rough looking security forces dressed in black in front of a local Jewish school (San Fran Peninsula). I cannot remember a time they were NOT there.
In federal death penalty cases, I can name that tune in 30 business days after sentencing.
Oh, btw, if someone is caught LYING in a capital case, that should carry the same penalty. Kill them. Same with the lawyers who hide exculpatory evidence.
Many many churches have engaged private security
Wanna bet those acting all outraged about Trumps comment have their kids in schools that have armed security
The lunatic shooter couldn’t legally possess a firearm under the Lautenberg Law.
He has a domestic violence conviction.
Gun laws don’t work. The next democrat step is confiscation. They would soon run out of confiscators.
A view of our male parishioners have CCL’s. They sit in the back pew, armed, and the priest knows it and welcomes it.
No no, leave them defenseless, that way the can keep playing the poor victim role.
As it Should be,
Arm-up.
If they had every policeman, gendarme, soldier, commando, paramilitary, deputy, constable, Marine, Navy sailor, militiaman and secret agent on Earth somehow all transported to one place they couldn’t fully disarm Cleveland, Boise, Los Angeles or Portland in a battle of 10 years. And they know it. See my tagline.
When you buy this site from Jim I will fully comply with your wishes. Until that day arrives I will post what I see fit.
The Gun Genie cannot be put back in the bottle, so put the Gun Parishioner in the pew.
They can’t disarm them all. You know that. I know that. They don’t care.
Dem. Eric Swalwell wants to do it. He said so this year. Feinstein wants to do it. She told 60 Minutes that in 1995. But, she didn’t have the votes.
However, These 2 won’t be part of the confiscators. They still push for it.
Our church has MANY armed guards. A few are visible, many others are not.
I didn’t click on the link, but I like to know what the enemamedia is up to.
I never though that I’d live to see the day when guards were needed to worship———how very, very sad.
.
I almost pity the fools who’ll have to actually break down doors and attempt to confiscate people’s guns. I imagine the average life span will be about two weeks. Lots of funerals.
