Pope Francis Orders New, Thorough Study of Archbishop McCarrick
In a statement, the Vatican says it is conscious that the new study may reveal choices not consonant with a contemporary approach to such issues.
Pope Francis has decided to combine the results of an investigation begun last year into Archbishop Theodore McCarrick with a new, thorough study of all the documentation contained in the Vatican archives in order to ascertain all the relevant facts surrounding the ex-cardinal.
In an Oct. 6 communique (see below), the Vatican said the Pope had ordered the archdiocese of New York to begin a preliminary investigation into Archbishop McCarrick in September 2017, after the archdiocese had been notified that a man had accused the former cardinal of having abused him in the 1970s.

Sounds like "mistakes were made."
Who made them?
Ping.
That “study” will be as intellectually honest as the dimbulbcrat’s “study” of Kavanaugh.
Everything, EVERYTHING, touched by a progressive/liberal turns to excrement.
It’s the “Dorkbama touch”.
I report. You decide. ;-)
didn’t Benedict already go after this guy long ago, but Francis dropped it?
I’d also like to see a “thorough” study of the commie pope as well
They’re still avoiding the “H” word: Homosexual.
I've been waiting a long time for the Vatican to say "we were wrong. We sinned and hurt others though the actions of the clergy that engaged in this behavior and the equally as bad behavior of those who covered it up and protected them."
They tell us as individuals that to be forgiven we must first acknowledge that we've sinned and ask to be forgiven. They refuse to do that. Instead they give us gobbledygook like 'may reveal choices not consonant with a contemporary approach to such issues.' As if engaging in gay sex romps with underage teens was okay at the time but in the modern times people are interpreting it negatively. They continuously appear the be defending these horrific actions.
Bergoglio's idea of a "contemporary approach" is unlimited and unqualified "mercy" and "accompaniment (to perdition)".
They tell us as individuals that to be forgiven we must first acknowledge that we’ve sinned and ask to be forgiven.
Mat 23:1 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to His disciples,
Mat 23:2 “The teachers of religious law and the Pharisees are the official interpreters of the law of Moses.
Mat 23:3 So practice and obey whatever they tell you, but don’t follow their example. For they don’t practice what they teach.
That is a tough saying of Jesus. But note they are interpreters of the laws of Moses. Not the new covenant. The new covenant is a personal relationship with God through the Holy Spirit and the Word.
So true! I am in Phoenix and Bishop Olmsted just instituted a new website on the crisis in the Church. It never mentions homosexuality in the hierarchy or priesthood - just abuse. There is a place to share your thoughts so I did! Until they address the cause this will never be over. Here is the link to the new website

I will say that Bishop Olmsted and many Priests in the diocese are three lengths ahead of the bulk of the clergy in the west. I am very happy with my Parish.
Sadly Francis actually reversed it.
Yes, I noticed the references to “not consonant with contemporary approaches” and “historical context”: attempts to assuage future accusations.
Part I of the "Get Vigano" plan. A whitewash job which will be designed to clear Francis of any wrongdoing and point the finger at one or more fall guys, most likely John Paul II and Benedict.
Sadly, I think you’re probably right.
Where have you been? The Church and specifically the Vatican have made those apologies 100 times, in speeches and in writing. Both recent popes elaborated in detail on guilt of Church. Francis just recently went almost to an extreme in his letter saying they “abandoned the children”and such. Of course there have been endless talks and statements by most bishops and priests!
These endless apologies are getting ridiculous because most people know nothing about the hierarchy and believe a DA over a priest. They love the lascivious lies and don’t examine the details.
Seems to me people have a knee-jerk reaction to blame the Church to express their own feelings that really have nothing to do with the reality.
I don’t mean throwing words around, I mean sincerely expressing a desire and intent to change. They say a lot of empty nonsense and then keep doing what they’ve always done. It’s been spin, all spin. When they start sending their own bad apples off for prosecution in secular courts, I’ll believe the spin. So far it’s pretty obvious that doing that is the absolutely last thing they will do.
