Good for him.

More pastors should do the same.

Well yeah. All the Apostles died poor and all but one were martyred. But they forgot to follow Joyce Meyer's advice: "name it and claim it"!

Too bad Joyce wasn't around in Jesus's day to set things right.

It’s not a miracle, at least in the ordinarily understood sense of the word.

" which often includes giving large sums of money with a promise of a heavenly financial blessing in return."

wait a minute . . . you mean we can't buy our way into Heaven?

“and indulgences rear their ugly heads again.”

Why?

Indulgences are not connected to any “prosperity gospel”.

“you mean we can’t buy our way into Heaven?”

Nope. Thank goodness the Catholic Church never taught that either.

Perhaps not in your lifetime. Have you ever heard the RCC used to sell indulgences for that very purpose?

No, you’re off on that one. An indulgence only eliminates the residuals of sin that are taken care of in purgatory according to the Catholic Church. If you are there, you are going to end up in heaven anyway. It’s a common misconception. In other words, even when there was a selling of indulgences, it wouldn’t move you to heaven from hell, just shorten your stay in purgatory.

Yes, prosperity gospel is not Biblical.

Money is such a limited human way to interpret God’s love for us anyhow.

“Perhaps not in your lifetime.”

Not ever.

“Have you ever heard the RCC used to sell indulgences for that very purpose?”

Only from people who had no idea of what they were talking about. Canon law specifically banned the sale of indulgences. The Catholic Church never once authorized the sale of indulgences. Ignorant anti-Catholics here at FR have repeatedly made this charge over the years and every single one of them has utterly and completely failed to show a single case in which the Catholic Church sold indulgences. We know unscrupulous Catholics sometimes violated Church law and practice and sold indulgences but the Church never authorized nor approved of it.

Quite frankly I have proved this again and again here at FR: http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/2640719/posts?q=1&;page=51

Time for an African Pope. They are amongst the most conservative of Catholics.

“Canon law specifically banned the sale of indulgences. The Catholic Church never once authorized the sale of indulgences. ”

This is no limitation to Rome.

Just look at the long-term toleration and acceptance of gays at the Vatican.

“This is no limitation to Rome.”

No, it just means what I said is true. The Church never authorized the sale of indulgences. Period.

When Rome knowingly allows something, it endorses it with a wink.

They did it then with selling indulgences.

They do it now with their gay mafia and priesthood.

“When Rome knowingly allows something, it endorses it with a wink.”

Prove it knowingly allowed it if had already made it illegal. Oh, you’ll fail.

“They did it then with selling indulgences.”

Except the Church didn’t sell any.

“They do it now with their gay mafia and priesthood.”

Nope. Bad men do bad things. To say the Church is responsible for what bad men in it do is stupid and illogical.

It appears someone in denial posted using your account Vlad.

Gay sex and drug parities and the gay mafia in Vatican City have been written about in Italian papers under multiple popes, who allow it to continue.

Priest child sexual abuse in Germany has gone on under seven popes.

Leaders around the world either abused children or covered up the abuse.

The Roman church was well aware indulgences were being sold and allowed it.

They were selling church offices also.

Hope you get back control of your account.

This bunch has no room to be complaining about prosperity. Given we the people fund their illegal human trafficking, right here in the good ol USA. They call it ‘charities’ spit!

“It appears someone in denial posted using your account Vlad.”

In other words, you can’t prove anything for your completely dishonest claims about indulgences so you’re going to switch gears to something else.

Yeah, of course you will.

“The Roman church was well aware indulgences were being sold and allowed it.”

And, of course, you post no evidence for your claim.
