Boston Archdiocese Won’t Answer Questions About Accused Predator Priest

The archdiocese of Boston, Massachusetts is refusing transparency about a priest reportedly removed for homosexual assault.

Boston Catholic Insider reported on Sept. 13 that Fr. Walter Cuenin abruptly left his position as chaplain at Brandeis University in January 2015 ostensibly for reasons of health, but was in fact removed after a male college student claimed the priest got him drunk and sexually molested him.

Cuenin was well known as a gay advocate, the Brandeis notice on his departure stating that "Cuenin had recently gained the support of other students on campus by displaying a large gay pride flag in honor of LGBT History Month."

Cuenin has opposed legislation banning same-sex "marriage," has rejected the Catholic language stating that homosexuality is objectively disordered and has invited parishioners to take part in gay pride parades, himself a featured speaker at Boston's gay pride interfaith service.

This pervert gave plenty of notice regarding his abominable disposition. Yet he was tolerated within the Church and sent to counsel young vulnerable students. Doubt Pope “who am I to judge” Francis will do anything.

I see that it appears he did not go to the police.

We need to have a rule from now on: someone tries to have sex with you and you don’t want it, go to the police. Period. No police report? I can be empathetic, but nothing will happen.

Sexual assault is not the victim’s fault. Failure to report it is.

How many public criminal cases will it take to stop ALL of this shit.

Or just shoot them.

April 2002: Cuenin testified to a MA legislative committee in opposition to a proposed amendment that would have banned gay marriage. He argued that Defense of Marriage Amendment amendment seemed to violate the Catechism of the Catholic Church because homosexual marriage was a human rights issue.

September 2002: In a New Yorker article entitled, “The Reformer“, Cuenin said gays and lesbians should be allowed a front-row seat at church and not be told that their lives are “basically disordered.”

June 2004: Cuenin invites parishioners to attend the Gay Pride parade. Complaints to the archdiocese are ignored.
May 2005: Our Lady’s bulletin runs a notice from their Gay and Lesbian Faith Sharing group invites all parishioners again to Boston’s Gay Pride Parade. Faithful Catholic, Alice Slattery sends letter to Cardinal OMalley and Bishop Lennon to sharing details of Cuenin’s history and begging the Cardinal to intervene. She gets no response.

September 2005: After years of complaints to both Cardinals Law and O’Malley about Fr. Cuenin’s promotion of homosexuality, he was finally removed as pastor by O’Malley not for his public dissent from Catholic teachings, but rather based on the results of a financial audit that showed improper use of church funds for a leased car and excessive payment of Mass stipends.

January 2006. Cardinal O’Malley reassigned Cuenin as campus chaplain, at Brandeis University, where he would be allowed to freely counsel students confused about their sexuality. It was widely assumed at the time this move was done to find a permanent role for Cuenin and to quell the furor at Our Lady’s over his departure and anger at his replacement, Fr. Chris Coyne (former spokesman for Cardinal’s Law and O’Malley)

pedo priests just get shuffled from parish to parish.
It has happened since the beginning.

I have come to the conclusion the church is in existence to have access to children.
Also, the church is in existence to take your money.

Loud, long applause.

My own bishop issued kind of a milquetoast letter in response to the crisis, but I was gratified that he said very clearly (paraphasing) "If you believe laws have been broken, *go to the police*, then report it to me".

Much of this problem would be avoided if victims and their families would *report it to the police*.

My bishop said “If you believe there is a problem, contact the Diocese Victim Assistance office”.

BS.

If there’s a “problem,” sure. If there’s a crime, nope. Not as the first response.

January 2006. Cardinal O’Malley reassigned Cuenin as campus chaplain, at Brandeis University, where he would be allowed to freely counsel students confused about their sexuality.

So, O'Malley assigned him to counsel students about their confused sexuality, encouraging them to continue in their perversions instead of guiding them with the teachings of the Church. What a freaking, worthless idiot of a bishop.

The current guidance here in the LA diocese for anyone involved with youth is to report any incidents first to the police. That is the guidance to the lay people anyway.

And this is why the church is collapsing. It is not the sick priests, it is the cover up to defend them that has people up in arms. If they would punish and expel these priests promptly, then we would blame the sickos. But it is the church itself that is allowing them to molest children for life by hiding their crimes and transferring them around instead of expelling them.

The church may be done soon.

Not being snarky, but do you know if that is the policy for the priests as well? It should be for parents—and THAT should go without seeing.

It is supposed to be the same policy for priests. I don’t know if it is followed.

Another disappearing letter into the black hole of O’Malley’s office. Wonder why is Wuerl vilified for even acts not his own, but O’Malley is praised and sitting pretty?
