I attended two christenings in recent years. One UMC, the other Episcopalian. Both ministers wore vestments with rainbow regalia.

Good call on leaving even paid occasions at UMC. The things I saw and heard at UMC between 1985 and 2000 absolutely disgusted me. I’ve been so much happier with the sola scriptura crowd.
