Dead or alive? History shows both in past. I have no problem with the church fixing the problem either way. But that's the thrust of the article....there is nothing the Roman Catholic church can do to remove the current pope. Nothing.

While there is nobody on earth with the authority to remove a Pope, some canonists believe that, if it were established that a Pope was a heretic, he could be “removed” by the College of Cardinals, who would simply recognize that he had already removed himself from office by his heresy.
